Anyway, dunno what you'd call this formation (maybe Wonky433™) but this is how the team should be set out if Bobby is out!

Either a 4-2-2-1-1 or 4-4-1-1 looks to me. Lamela in for Soldado and Sandro in for Bentaleb. I can go for that.

I may be tempted to put Chadli in for Lennon, and go 4-3-3 with Lamela on the right and Chadli on the left.

Further I couldn't be to bothered as to who starts. Erikssen showed some real class the six times he was involved vs Palace, but maybe in a more sentral position vs Swansea.

I also liked the quote by Sherwood saying he consideres Lamela as a forward. I think this means he is likely to adjust the formation and play Lamela behind Ade at some point.

Need Sandro back if Tim doesn't rate Capoue. Can't help but think that Sandro and Paulinho coming back will see us change things up.

It;s not necessarily about being afraid, I think he has to bite the bullet and start preparing for life without Defoe. Get Lamela in alongside/off Adebayor, particularly if Soldado is still carrying and injury, got no confidence, got a bit of grit in his eye or whatever excuse people want to give him today.

I agree, but I'd leave Eriksen left and bring Lamela central.

I agree we need to match them in midfield. But if set up with the first line-up they would think twice how to approach the game. If we was playing one of the big teams then i agree we'd get battered! But Swansea are a good passing team however i really don't see them as a real threat. They can pass all they like but they're not great in the final third. When they do attack they will be exposed to Lennon and Townsend on the counter attack.

Tbh it's a much or a muchness whoever plays. I just think Townsend offers a bit more on the ball than Lennon in terms of keeping possession and putting the opposition on the back foot when running from deep. I would have no real problem if Lennon started though.

Why would he pick Townsend on the right in a 4-4-2? With Erisken on the left tucking in. Don't understand that.

Surely if Townsend gets picked in this system its on the left.
