Well. Bentaleb must be there for starters. And Soldado probably must not.

All about possession this one! We need to compete in the possession stakes here...I'd go with. although won't happen:

Lloris

Walker
Dawson
Vlad
Rose

Capoue
Dembele
Bentaleb

Lamela
Adebayor
Eriksen

4-3-3 all the way...get the width from our full backs, but I love the look of that team for this game.

As long as we play with a proper DM.
If not we could end up with an Arsenal result.

Well an awful lot depends on the fitness of certain players but considering we've had training pics this week of the likes of Townsend, Sandro and Lamela then you'd think we'll have more bodies back in contention. Hopefully Walker isn't too bad and can shake off his injury along with Soldado and a week's rest will certainly help.

What is the case though is that 442 isn't going to work away from home here and we need to solidify the centre. Bentaleb and Dembele in a CM2 isn't conducive as a partnership so you need a Capoue or Sandro to knit it all together.

Lloris

Walker Dawson (urghh) Chiriches Rose

Sandro
Dembele Bentaleb

Lamela Adebayor Eriksen
Depending on how the game is going, wouldn't mind bringing on Townsend either for Eriksen or shifting him into the centre and taking off either Dembele or Bentaleb and obviously see how Lamela pans out but I think this is a 'nice' game to play in - won't have the pressure of the home crowd on his case and at a ground where it's not going to be hostile nor should there be nasty tackles flying in left, right and centre.

Soldado needs a rest though - that's a definite.

(y) Please let this happen. We saw glimpses of Moose and Nabil connecting ( the nice little backheel passes towards the end). If they have more freedom to bomb forward (especially Nabil who seems to have the extra drive to want to actually score ) then i think we can do more damage to teams.

Dembele
Holtby

Lamela
Soldado
Eriksen

Won't happen, but I would like to see it none the less.

Much as I'd like to see Lamela come good and start games, how can anyone pick him over Lennon on current form? TS will certainly stick with Lennon (correctly)

A Daily Telegraph article stated:

“Tottenham are hoping defender Jan Vertonghen will return from injury in time to face Manchester City on January 29 and the Belgian may even be involved against Swansea next Sunday.”

Sky Sports journalist Michael Bridge tweeted:“Kyle Walker has a calf injury. Doesn’t sound too serious.”

This is probably what I would do, but very doubtful it actually happens. If we go 3 in the middle I think you either have to play Holtby there or drop Eriksen deeper. Gotta have a player with vision and passing range in there.

Would be a massive boost to have him back for City but I wouldn't risk him against Swansea.

Chircihes - Vertonghen offers nous but I dare say Timothy will revert to Dawson partnering him.

What form lol? Why do people keep saying this

If we play a real 4-3-3 then there's no way we should be starting with Lennon on the right. If we play two strikers then it's fine with me

4-3-3 with Erikson, Adebayor and Lamela up front. One of Capoue or Sandro sitting. Two from Bentaleb, Holtby, Dembele or Siggy in the middle (likely Bentaleb and Dembele with Holbty and Sig as attacking changes from the bench). Could also move Erikson centrally if that's what people prefer and play Townsend on the left to give more pace. Defenders pick themselves although it would fuck up the whole 4-3-3 system a bit if Walker is out.

How anyone can advocate a midfield three without Bentaleb in it is amazing.

I'd agree with others that I'd like an additional body in midfield, but that formation is entirely reliant on Ade showing up and playing like the guy we saw in the second half and not the first. If he plays like the first, we'll struggle to create, if he plays like the second, we'll be fine.

Lloris
Walker (Naughton) Dawson Vlad Rose
Dembele Capoue/Sandro Bentaleb
Lennon Ade Eriksen

I'd be hestitent about throwing Sandro straight in after a lay off, but if he is good to go, stick him in, otherwise Capoue anchored and Moose and Bentaleb playing in front. With three in midfield I'd ask Ade not to drop off, stay on the defenders shoulder, hold the ball up, bring others into play. Possession is good, but we need an outlet.
