Easier games to ease him back into for 90 minutes after a year out. Makes complete sense, whether you agree with AVB or not.

I would like to see Kaboul, Vertonghen and Rose get at least 45 mins together and then bring on Chiriches for Verts if he's available. Maybe bring on Eriksen and Kane/Adebayor(!) later on for any 2 of the front 4.​

I worry AVB is going to maintain the policy of going all guns blazing in home games then sending fringe players to the away games.

This doesn't bother me, we won't play our real fringe players, but keeping back the XI or XIV who will play at the weekend isn't going to bother me. The PL has to be our main aim, unless the Europa League winners get a CL slot.

Tromso's coach has already stated they will be playing a weaker side against us because of their current league position and wanting to keep players fresh. That's why I'm starting Fryers. He should be able to hand their backups.

Dembele starts because it's still important to have an enforcing midfield and Paulinho gets the rest because of his extensive International minutes recently. Also, I want Dembele to start because he rediscovered some form playing deeper against Norwich and Tromso could be a confidence booster for him.

The others are pretty self-explanatory. Lamela is eased in with a Europa League match at home, Holtby needs to be groomed for the No. 10 position in our current setup, Chadli gets the start if he's healthy and I think you could understand the other picks.

My biggest question would be if Chiriches can play given the recent work permit comments.

Play a strong side, as first team as necessary, get a result and don't anybody strain themselves, play our best side against Cardiff on Sunday then play the other eleven at Villa Park two days later in the capital 1 cup; with Chelsea the following weekend I don't want to see our team playing two games in three days.

Just wish Ade had his head from out of his arse and looked to stake his claim in the first team.

An up-for-it Ade with the likes of Eriksen, Lamela and Paulinho buzzing around him would be a great alternative at times to Soldado and Defoe, who I still maintain should be nothing more than a super sub.

Capoue and Chadli still injured I think otherwise I would rest Dembele for Capoue and play Chadli on the left instead of Lennon, but I would like to see is he can adapt his game some more and play on the left side.​

I'm really looking forward to seeing the cup games this season, a perfect platform to display our embarrassment of riches. I am juicing at the thought of seeing Chichires for the first time if he is eligible. Get Defoe on to keep him happy, Kaboul needs game time, as does maybe Sandro. I'm not sure I would want to knacker Rose out by using him all the time. I think effectively we can have a complete switch and replace every player as AVB sees fit. Rotate completely saving super subs in case of jeopardy.

Kaboul, Sandro, Holtby, Lemala, Defoe and Criches all need game time so they should start imo.

I wouldn't have our current back four in the starting for me. No need to risk them for this game imo.

I think our squad is big enough to compete in all four competitions, we should still play a strong (not strongest) side in the Europa meaning players like Defoe, Kaboul, Naughton, Holtby, Chadli, Sandro etc get minutes as well but at the same time if still want the lines of Eriksen, Soldado, Paulinho, Hugo, Verts still get game time on Thursdays. The more these boys play together the more they get used too each other and winning breeds confidence as well.


I'm confident that AVB will get it right and mix and match as he sees fit.

Dawkins has no future at this club and quite frankly, I'm gobsmacked he's still around - not being harsh on the guy, but he needs a permanent move badly.
