We were continuously told throughout the summer to be patient and that we had a plan. It was clear that we only partially pulled that plan off. I have a feeling that we may have missed out on a couple of players thanks to this strategy, which is why Llorente came in last minute.
Whilst he seemed pretty relaxed about the situation in the summer it appears that Poch has realised that we took the wrong approach and are suffering now as we lag way behind City. With City firing and United looking strong, he's realised that had he got Aurier and Llorente in sooner he would have been able to count on them from the off. I think he's putting a little pressure on Levy here, nothing too worry about too much, and I think he's earned that right.
Why can't we go to someone like Sporting CP in January and make a solid offer for Gelson Martins with the idea that he'll join us once the WC has finished. Pretty sure they'd be open to a fair offer with the knowledge that he isn't leaving immediately and they can plan around it.
I agree about Sessegnon.
In the case of martins I’ve read numerous times he has a release clause around £50m so in theory we could trigger it anytime. Whether we’d pay that and whether he sign for us is another matter, also if we did trigger it another club could too and pay him more than we can
