Just checked through Arry's managerial history in Premier League and he has never won an away game on last day of the season

Bongani Khumalo?

Interestingly his Wiki page says he ended up at Barcelona

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bongani_Khumalo
That's the chap I was thinking of, but got his name mixed up with the other one we brought back earlier.......blimey, we're like a footballing Angelina Jolie!
That transfer just didn't sit right with me - we go on tour to South Africa and end up bringing one back with us??? My brother lived in SA at the time and he was shocked as he's a keen fan and he'd never even heard of him!

I might be wrong but I thought we took him as part of the deal we had with his club Super Sport at the time. He scored in the World Cup and we took a punt on being able to develop him maybe as a way to boost our support in South Africa? I saw him play for Colchester when he was on loan and then he had a decent season at Doncaster but I never heard of him after that.

I wonder if he regrets signing with us or if he was happy to get the chance to play in the English leagues?

Pompey and Saints were 1st Division when he managed them weren't they?

I don't think I've ever seen the goals, but according to Fulop's Wiki entry, all three were preventable. Hmm...
Unfortunately, Fulop died last November, so we'll never hear his side of the story, which might have been interesting.
Mind you, our form at the business end of that season was shocking - four wins from the last 13 games. I know that there was the unhelpful speculation at the time that 'Arry would get the England job, but such a run of results is unacceptable for a team with hopes of reaching the CL.

That's a very bold statement to make. Why not aitaly for example who actually CATCH and PROSECUTE offenders? Just because there isn't little evidence doesn't mean it's clean. I can't comment on Norway as I don't know it but surely a league that's out of the public eye is easier to dabble with as match fixing goes unnoticed?

Hehe. I said Bold Statement after having Bolded it....... ah never mind.
There are annual ratings by Transparency International, see previous link. I've never given a bribe (not counting a bottle of wine to get two movers to carry a couch up the final stairs), nor been offered. I assume it's the same for most of you. Compare that with Russia, say.

Try and find them. They're interesting to say the least.

Harry Redknapp on Telegraph undercover sting: "The worst part is when the bill came, the other four scumbags got up and left me with it."

Perceptions a funny thing. To go with that stat we only had two defeats in the last 10 games and both were shockers. Norwich was the worst one after we rotated the team. QPR we absolutely battered and got sucker punched. It was the injury to Lennon that cost us. We went from being cavalier and balanced to very much playing like we do today. Dominating possession but not creating much in the way of chances. Lennon comes back, system restored and the outcome is W3 D1 in the last four games.

I don't like to speak ill of the dead, but that Arsenal game there definitely was something off about it. I do think there was some kind of corruption involved. Probably not instigated by Arsenal FC though, but definitely some dodgy shit even if it was Fulop personally wanting to stiff Spurs for his lack of opportunities.

This afternoon I watched the goals from that game on YouTube. One poster's comment simply said that the whole game was bent. The idea that Fulop had a chance to stiff us, and took it with both hands (or neither hand at times) seems to hold a lot of water. Shows what a bitter and immature person he was, if that's the case. In the horseracing world, any jockey putting in such a 'shift' would be facing a stewards' inquiry. It's a shame football doesn't do likewise.

My personal theory is that he was paid off by a betting syndicate. He was out of contract after that game and was in the twilight of his career and therefore had little to lose by having an off day.

Although the theory that he wanted to stiff us does seem credible, the theory that he took a dive for the Mob is more credible. In fact, when you consider that gambling is illegal in most southern and eastern Asian countries, and the Prem is followed fanatically over there, it' s probable.
With the benefit of hindsight, it seems stupid for a manager to pick someone whose contract is about to expire and who won't be around the following season (maybe Fulop was the most senior goalie who was fit at the time). Personally, I'd try to pick a player who will be around in August. If that player has no previous experience with the first team, at least I'd be able to see how he reacts to the situation, even in a meaningless game for our team.

Manager 8

Agent Dax Price said this long-servingmanager would pick three trusted players and tell them he was paying them an extra £8,000 per month, on condition that they paid him £4,000 per month each

I don't understand this. Why would a player accept this offer? Yes it's more cash but the manger is dragging them into the mire with him
I assume they don't know about the other players??
The players wouldn't even get any more cash in this example - 50% of the £8000 would go in tax, and then they give the other £4000 away. Sounds like bollocks to me.
