in my opinion he is one left off he will not sign a new contract and has 12 months left so the option to sell to raise funds is there. thats why :)
Fair enough. It's just the thread is about the list of players a newspaper article says we are looking to sell.

As Lloris isn't part of that list, he's not really relevant to this thread.

Yes, a 27 year old Eriksen who was wanted by some of the biggest clubs in the world, when transfer fees were as high as they'd ever been, and he'd played pretty much every game for us for the previous 5 years without injury. He was also in the PFA team of the year the previous year and second in UEFA's midfielder of the year award. The 2 situations are not the same.
I'm not saying they're exactly the same. But £20m for a player who would have been free in the summer and there was no competition for his signature was still a lot.

Lamela is very highly rated by Roma and Jose seemed to really like and rate him. I think £25m is over the top but we can still get a reasonable fee for him if the interest is there.

Yeah, my whole point was that 25 million was over the top

Well he only has one year left on his contract for starters.

He's on £80k a week and not a regular starter.

You don't have to think a player is useless or has a bad attitude to think it's time for them to leave.

We can agree to disagree on that. The fact that Lamela's not a starter doesn't mean he shouldn't be one - that's totally down to the manager. There were several games where he and Lucas could've swapped out alternate subs/starts... but hey, I'm in a minority here.

Well, it's not totally down to the maager.

He has had numerous injuries and it seems that if he plays too often he gets injured again.

Your posts only focus on his attributes. His injuries, his contract having a year left and the fact that after being here for 8 year he hasn't had a single standout season are all perfectly valid reasons to think now is a time to cash in. Not every decent player has to stay forever.

Who’s our next manager?

My estimated values, based on what I think might be accepted:

Winks - £25-30m (homegrown, only 25 and in the right team will potentially get back to the form that got him into the England team)
Sissoko - £10-15m (still gets playing time for the world champions, ahead of Ndombele!)
Lamela - £12-15m (a fraction of what he'd be worth if not for his injuries and contract)
Aurier - £12-15m (£25m if contract wasn't running down)
CCV - £5-10m
Toby - £10m (down from the £40m we reportedly valued him at when Utd were interested 2 years ago)

Dier - £20m (versatile, strong/professional character, still only 27)
or
Sanchez - £25-30m (25, better than we tend to give him credit for, and has impressed for Columbia at three consecutive major tournaments)

Total - £96-125m
Covid climate....
Winks £20m-£25m.....Sissoko £10m-£12m....Lamela £10m-£12m...Aurier £10m-£12m.....CCV £5m
Toby £6-7m......Dier £20m.....Sanchez £20m-£25m

How much is Dele worth...? I'd use the extra bucks he'd bring in to offset any perceived losses in telling Lamela to 'go on now... git! git!'

Same as any player. He's worth what a buying club is willing to pay and the buying club will need to cover his salary.

He'd cost a fair bit though so it's not as simple as choosing to sell Alli over Lamela.

I agree but Dier has a major drawback in not being homegrown which might put a few clubs off.

I have a completely unsubstantiated feeling that Vieira's Palace might be interested in a few of our lot.

That would be great (or any other club tbh)
Since when does Levy let a quarter of his playing squad leave on the cheap? If teams aren't willing to pay, the players will stay.

You might be right about us only bringing in £50-60m for those players, but that would be with several of them going for a combined £50-60m and the rest staying put.

Our shiny new DOF wouldn't allow it either

I like to think he'd set a value of £250m on Kane :)

At that price sadly I can see it as being accepted

Don't mistake our chairman's tightness for the norm. Most clubs will find the money if they want players. For instance Brighton have turned down a 50 mil offer from Villa for White. So watch this space.
Who accepts a first offer in any market?

They will be going nowhere because Levy will want a King's ransom for them

Is that not the DOFs job to balance the books?

Don't forget Lloris he will be gone for free this time next season Get the ex Ajax keeper in so he is ready after his ban :)

Hugo could well be gone next year~ but the ex Ajax keeper I'm sure is going to Arsanal.
