And people say he's all left foot :)
It must have a small bit of truth as even his team mate mentioned it.

Without doubt there is meaning behind it but I think the implication was that he couldn't use his right foot at all whereas from my experience it's more of a case he massively prefers to use his left foot but he is very capable with his right. Even in the previous England games he has threaded people in with his right foot with a perfect weight. I remember seeing him plucking a ball out of the air with his right foot in the box under pressure once and scoring.

I saw on twitter, I think it was @KingSRV that said it, that when the current u15s become first years our potential academy team will be ridiculous. I had a think and assuming all those who represent England now will at that moment we could have a team of

-------------------Whiteman (17s)------------
?-------Tanganga(16s)-Eyoma(15s)---Brown(16s)
---------------Skipp(15s)------TOB(15s)----------
Edwards(17s)--------Kirby(15s)--------Bennetts(16s)
-------------------------Sterling(17s)----------------------

That formation can be altered with Kirby going into midfield 2, Edwards 10, and TOB on RW.

Additionally we would have Thorpe who plays for Wales as a striking option and been to England camps, and this excludes people I expect to be in the academy by then like, Roles, Shashoua, Duncan etc. When was the last time we had 2 internationals as options up front.

I think the closest we have come to this was when Winks, Miller, Oduwa, Sonupe and Onomah were all representing England at the same time last year (can't remember if Ogilvie did), however there wasn't a player for every position, and it excludes KWP and Amos.

I thought I'd post this as while it looks gloomy at the club it is a postivie to think that we have potentially even better players coming through., And it is a massive improvement compared to the times we barely had any representation at all. That academy intake could potentially win us the FAYC.

Edwards far and away Englands best player so far vs Ireland. He looks on another level to everybody else on the pitch honestly.

Just watching the whole match now as was out earlier, he has already done some disgusting things and its just 20 mins in. His through ball for Ugbo and when he was tight on the edge of the area and dinked a ball.

Such a clever player, I've said before but he is the black messi :D (stylistically speaking)

Youth watchers: Anyone have an idea of just how good Gedion Zelalem from Arsenal is? He just became CCV's teammate at the international level today...

Speaking of CCV, he wont be at any more youth games this season, if there are any. U20's report to camp for the WC tomorrow. Starts on the 30th.

Tbf Willock has looked really good too, him and his brother are really talented. Arsenal need to take care of those two and Nelson

Ye saw CCV made the final squad, good on him. Born a couple hours later and he would probably be playing for Eng u17s right now. Good thing he's not I guess as he'll learn so much at the u20 WC.

I think Zelalem is a talented player but I feel that he is a bit overhyped. I think that being at Arsenal and from Germany he developed a lot of hype as he was eligible for the USA. With a player like that within US' grasp I believe more attention was given to him increasing people's expectations. I don't know if he would have been good enough to play for England but then again his age group did win the Euros so that's no slight on him.

Anyway from the few Arsenal u21s games I've seen he hasn't overly impressed me but it is unfair judging from a couple of games. If he doesn't improve their first team he will add great strength and depth as a creative option.

Yeah I only ever watched him play in their US tour last season. From what I saw from him, I think he'll be good, but Hyndman will be better, wrt American players. I really liked what I saw from that kid when he was playing for Fulham at the beginning of the year. Wish he had stayed fit.

That's kind of my point, the hype surrounding him almost makes it sound like he will be one of your greatest but I doubt it he'd even be better than Hyndman right now as he looked really good earlier in the year. If he plays to a similar level to Hyndman then that's great for you guys. See Pulisic is now at Dortmund, I assume at current level he will be better than him but he Zelalem is older. I also thought De La Torre looked decent for the u17s but not so for Fulham he may be one to keep an eye on too.

Don't know if you saw my post earlier to you or the updates on the national u15 tourney earlier in the month but USA won it, so you may have even better players coming through

Agreed. I think he may end up with the same situation as Julian Green, where there's just tremendous media hype solely because he's an American at an academy at a big European club.

Completely agreed. Have thoroughly been impressed with Hyndman. Far and away my biggest hope for the future. Hope he returns smoothly after his injury and duration out.

As for thread relevancy, I'm delighted to see that two of our players are really standing out at this tournament. Really does lift the mood after the performances of the first team the last few weeks.

I wouldn't be surprised if two of our players make player of the tournament for U20 world cup and they are both 17!

I think Edwards is 16. He's still a schoolboy.

Is there a squad list, as I can only see a squad picture which of the U18's(doesn't include Onomah though)

That's the photoshoot from the start of the season isn't it? Why would Onomah not be in it unless he was just ill. I reckon Onomah will go to the tournament which will mean he won't get any more appearances this season, as I did not see him in the training video.

I was talking about Yahaya and CCV in the world cup in two weeks time

Also he might of been in the development squad picture

Yep my bad didn't read properly and assumed you meant Euros, should have known better as you know what you're talking about. You are totally correct. I could easily imagine CCV making the team of the tournie. He was their best defender during qualifiers and if they have a good one defense will have had to play a part. Yahaya I still haven't seen but there was that recent article wasn't there that said he played one game and was 100% going to go and the other side was up for grabs.

Really looking forward to seeing him, forget he's our player sometimes.

I thought that too, but why would they put him in the development squad pic. I know he obviously plays a lot of u21s but he is still an academy player

Personally when I think of Onomah, I don't really think of him as an academy player. Its abit silly he hasn't been with the squad more to be honest and hope it isn't because of his age, it always felt like he was only with the U18's to help us win whatever competition we entered

Next season we will have a very good team for the FA youth cup if we want

Sterling
Azzaoui ---- Edwards ---- Bennetts
Owens -- Roles
Muscatt -- Tangaga - CCV -- Paul
Whiteman
Not including players like Shashoua, Oakley-Boothe(highly rated), Jaden Brown and others who already played U18's. These lot have the potential to be better than the Mason group
