I don't think there is much of a plan there actually, as I've said before in previous posts there is no point in having academy if the players aren't given a chance. You need the right philosophy in which players can get a chance then it needs to be put into practice.

Agreed with the much of the sentiment, but the main point was that we certainly don't need 5 CB's - from a youth perspective that kills any real chance of bringing any of the excellent youth through in that position in the coming season, and I struggle to think why we would do that from a first team perspective either given that we currently have one goalscoring striker so clearly need a back up rather than a 5th CB, and other areas of the squad require strengthening before the 5th CB

Tottenham starlet Josh Onomah is the latest young English talent on Man City’s radar.

City are trying to recruit young home-grown players like Raheem Sterling and Jack Wilshere.

Premier League clubs can name no more than 17 foreign players over the age of 21 in their squads.

City's homegrown ranks have been depleted by James Milner , Frank Lampard , Dedryck Boyata and Scott Sinclair leaving.

Boss Manuel Pellegrini can plug the void if necessary by promoting some of the club’s own youngsters.

But Spurs’ rising star Onomah, 18, is on City’s radar too after they also lined up a move for Fulham youngster Patrick Roberts.

Attacking central midfielder Onomah made his senior debut last season as substitute in Spurs' FA Cup win over Burnley in January.

He also impressed as sub in both Spurs’ end of season tour games in Malaysia and Australia, which the visitors won.

Not surprised about City trying to hoover up english talent, I read they've recently signed a fair few of United's talents, all the way down to age 11...

fcuk that
He'll be worth way more than 10, we should fight to keep him and if things go bad talk Sterling money
There has been many comparisons with Pogbo and interestingly Onomah, is more experienced atm than Pogba was at the same stage in his career. Selling him now would be stupid, even if he gets injured and never reaches his potential

Chelsea tried the same approach several years ago, looking to poach away youngsters for big money. It achieved nothing, none of those youngsters got a chance in the first team and with fat contracts none of them had any motivation to improve.

If I could pick 4 I'd like to see get first team game time early this season - that haven't already had more than a minute or two - it would be Onomah, Pritchard, KWP, Winks. In KWP and Winks case it needn't be EPL games, but some first team time in some shape or form.

So according to Redknapp Pritchard has signed a 4 year deal with us (I'm pretty sure his contract was up next year?). Anyone else hear about this?

Skysports said we were discussing a 4 year contract a few days ago, but it ws Lyall Thomas and he is hardly ITK.

I saw both of them two sign too. I really like Slattery and what I saw of him for Eng u16s.

Anyway, I'd expect us to try and do it and apparently according to @BC11 we had a pre pro contract lined up for Edwards but it is unknown if he signed it or not. I doubt, knowing him, he will personally as he will most likely want to see some sort of progression or hear some assurances next season. We will have 100% tried to though
