Just watched the highlights, and the hattrick aside, it didn't look like the quality of the cricket was all that great. A few decent hits, a couple of good balls, dropped catch, one or two misfields, and some poor shots to get out. Maybe the occasion got to both sides??

Either way, the pitch certainly looks slow which could make life interesting if it doesn't dry out. Swann could play a role, there was a bit of turn and bounce for the Doherty fella...

England's seamer's have to bowl full and hope for some shape, but Anderson and Broad are (should be) experienced enough to do that. If Watson and Katich stay in for the first hour and the pitch dries out then there will be Day 2 and Day 3 runs for the Aussies.

I thought we did OK to be honest, 1st Morning, all the hype, packed to the rafters with 1000's of baying aussies. It certainly could have been a lot worse.

Lets see how we bowl before making definite judgements. I think our attack is more than capable of doing some damage, we just need a little bit of luck and get a couple early.

Great atmosphere though, definitely sent a tingle down the spine when the national anthems were being played, i've never known a series to create such a fervent feveer around the country. Just a pity it's on when we're all in bed !!!

Yeah we got decent broadband so it's ok lol - not even stuttering at all! Lying in bed with my laptop on the chair next to me bed, a dominos pizza on my lap, and sky player sky sports with the ashes on the hd tele on the desk at the foot of my bed

IDK their middle order is not formidable these days. punter and pup are both in patchy form. the openers are good but the middle order is nothing on india/lanka.
