The chances of Newcastle going down

I thought Fulham were superb today (as far as one can judge from MOTD). Everton seemed to be having the same post-UEFA hangover as us and have an appalling record at the Cottage, but it was a great win.

Looking at Fulham's fixtures. and knowing they've got McBride (one of the most underrated strikers in the EPL), Johnson and Bullard back, it wouldn't surprise me if they turned over the Barcodes and staged a miracle escape.

Fulham seem to have turned into Spurs Old Boys. Davies, Krazy, Salty, Murphy… Again, as far as one can judge from MOTD, Salty's been pretty impressive at RB.

Both Salty & Davies played really well yesterday.

It's more to do with how many points Bolton & Sunderland are going to get really, as I think Newcastle are terminally ill at the moment. If the former two can pick up a couple of wins and draws then Newcastle should go down as I really can't see them winning.

Agreed. Newcastle are shite at the moment, but the fact that other teams are worse, will probably save them.

Well, Derby are worse.

Actually, given the way they held out against United on Saturday, I'm not so sure about that. And the Barcodes are the only side they've beaten this season.

I'm gonna say that if they don't get at least 4 points in their next 2 games they should really start to panic. I work with a Newcastle fan (who is sitting just a few feet away and I think he can see what I'm typing) and I can tell he is beginning to fear the worst.

Well that's a point for the Toon that I didn't predict.

I'd have thought 4pts, or thereabouts would keep them safe.

I'd love for them to be in the relegation zone, or 17th place when they play Sunderland. I'd rather watch a relegation clash with rivals, than a Championship deciding match between two prawn-sandwich teams.

Bad result last night.

Realistically Fulham need to beat them this weekend, not even a draw will be enough and Newcastle should take some confidence from their 2nd half performance last night which wasn't to bad.

Having said that if the come to the lane with that line up and we are really up for it we will pulverise them.

Just heard from one of my Geordie mates that Keegan will be out the door at the end of the season.

Don't know what his source is (if any!), but I do know that Ashley will have a death wish if he decides to sack The Messiah if he keeps Newcastle up.

I feel kind of sorry for Keegan. He did well with Newcastle in his previous spell as manager, but this time around he looks totally lost. Maybe the 'mind games' saga with Fergie left him mentally scarred for life.

I've done the BBC predictor and got them staying up by 2 points.

14: B'ham -15 34
15: S'land -26 34
16: Wigan -27 34
17: Newcastle -33 34
18: Bolton -23 32
19: Fulham -27 28
20: Derby -71 10

As others have said I would love it, just love it if they went down.

Well, they won today. Unfortunately, I can't see them getting relegated now.

Seriously.....it would have been nice, but, as much as I dislike the ****s, I never really thought they'd be playing footie in the Championship next season.

what a shame. I think it's safe to say that this season is finally over for us and there's nothing left to look forward too.

The only reason why I would want Newcastle to do well is because of Chris Houghton. Some of our supporters have really disrespected him after he put in so many years great service for the club. If Newcastle do well perhaps he'll get the credit he deserves as a coach.
