Root in for Compton for the warm-up match. The selectors obviously read SC ...

Massive call.

They seem to be going off his excellent opening form for Yorkshire and decent test figures to date, but Compton has also been in good opening form for County.

This could make or break Root.

Compton lacks technique and appears to be a weak as piss character. He would get destroyed by the Aussies, verbally as well as trying to perform.

Also Bairstow has scored too many runs to be dropped, so it had to be Compton who lost his place to KP.

I forgot there's a 20/20 match with NZ tonight. Should I watch the opening 16 over crawl and loss of 8 wickets in the last couple of overs or not? Decisions decisions.............;)

KP @ 4 in all formats can't come soon enough for me.....

KP needs to be in earlier than that in ODI and 20/20 cricket imo. You need to give him the maximum amount of time to do damage, and crucially get set before they bowl a left-arm spinner at him. Tbh I think he needs to open in limited over circket.

My rant over our last 2 games.

Vs India:

Cook and Bell should not play limited over cricket for us, they bat far too slowly. Trott had a good series, but i dont think he should either. His slow strike rate is masked by the fact he always passes 50, and i also think he is responsible for England not getting over 280+ runs. Finally, the middle order always collapses around Trott because they have to take responsibility and up the run rate, they aren't given a chance to get in and find their feet.

Buttler. Whilst he is a very good keeper, he hasnt done enough with the bat to warrant keeping Matt Prior out, who is still the guy with the best strike rate in ODI cricket for us.

Bresnan...another one, he offers nothing. He isnt intelligent and bats like a meathead, whilst not being able to actually score many boundaries. He is also a very expensive bowler. Luke Wright is much, much better.

Ashwin. Cheat. To sum it up. How he hasnt been pulled for his bowling action is beyond me. Its in the rulebook that a bowler's motion must be fluid until the ball is released. He constantly stutters, and on the final ball of our innings, he stuttered for at least a second.

Joe Root. Amazing talent, no doubting that, but i've never seen somebody get suckered into the slower ball as often as him.

Lol so a panel of ICC members have never picked up on his action being a problem bearing in mind hes been around for a good few years now and that they are paid to do spot such things in the game... Yet your implying his action is illegal.. Give it a rest buddy...lets just face facts we lost to a far superior team and still struggle on a turning pitch

I dont doubt that India were deserved winners, i do however feel that his action is illegal

Just a heads up, England's warm up game against Essex is live on Sky Sports 2/Ashes.

Pietersen just got out trying to be extravogent reaching his half century...

Not sure - but I dont think the England players are too serious about this run out ;)

Club had a T20 County Cup Quarter Final game last night. I couldn't play because I couldn't get out of work early enough, but I still managed to get there to watch most of it and thank God I did!

One of our batters got 170 off 59 balls, with 17 sixes! This includes one over being hit for 36! First time I've ever seen that live at any level!

Our team total was 278/2!

Here's the scorecard: http://brentwood.play-cricket.com/scoreboard/scorecard.asp?id=11816665
