Come on.

How many times has he played reckless shots

Answer. Far too many.
Can't argue with that Shiz, but if the personal satisfaction/glory of getting an ashes fifty was his main objective he could have pushed a single pretty much at will really and he'd also have gone for the 'not out' to boost his stats. On this occasion i'm not sure there's much else he could have done considering who he had left to bat with.

Overall, England's batting as a unit has just not been anywhere near good enough. We've seen what can happen when the Aussies are put under any sort of pressure and we've consistently failed to deliver the sort of scores that wins you test matches. Yesterday's collapse was a disgrace and probably the worst of the lot.

We're probably going to take a 5-0 beating again and even if we don't this tour ranks as the worst and most embarrassing of the lot.

Not denying England's batting has been atrocious, worse than that, cowardly at times.

But it's no coincidence Pietersen has got to many landmark sums (any multiple of 50) going for a six. I appreciate he is a showman, but in this instance (along with many others) batting with his brain was called for.

And all those fans that wanted Trott out of every form of Cricket, at least he would have given his heart for a team that he is not even truly one of (well you know) sure a flaw may have been identified in his game, but give me Trott all day long over most of these ADHD, all or nothing batsmen (go from smashing everything to 1 from 40 balls with no in between)

Now it just looks like any good spells we had in the preceding matches were just down to the Aussies not bothering as they've immediately stepped up next session/day and made us look like chumps (again)

I wouldn't mind if it was the Aussie team that destroyed us oh so often as they were true champions of the sport but this group of Aussies is average at best. How many of this Aussie team will go down as true greats? You could argue for Clarke (still no for me) but that's about it.
Still made mugs of us though...

Fair enough, Australia have been better.

But christ, we only have ourselves to blame for this loss. Pure stupidity 4 tests in a row now.

Wow, if i was England's bowlers i'd be so fucking annoyed with the batsmen right now.

They do a brilliant job of getting England a lead, the batsmen blow it completely, and now they're dropping catches that Sandra could have fucking caught

First one I can half-understand, it should have been Bairstow's and probably took him by surprise. That one though just sums up the tour. Fuck sake.

They could be four down, we are so negative it's crazy, why are we not at least setting an attacking field when the series is already lost ffs!

Piers Morgan is trying to whip up support for Pietersen to become captain after this series.

Mirroring England's disgraceful batting display on day three of the 4th ashes test, Australia's batsmen today collapsed from 64-0 to 64-1 before a plucky Shane Watson arrived at the crease to steady the ship. The aussies managed to reach lunch at 143-1.

Ridiculous.

I do think Cook is a toilet captain though.

If it was up to me, i'd make Stuart Broad captain. Cook has no clue whatsoever out in the field. We need somebody who does.

Another good win aided by inept captaincy by Cook. The strangest field placings ive seen for a while considering he needed wickets!

What an utter pile of shit. The Aussies didn't even bowl well; their strategy was akin to lobbing up a soft ball and waiting for England to tap it to a fielder - and it worked. Their heads have gone and they need some time at home to recover. Looking at these teams on paper it should have been 5-0 the other way. Just ridiculous.

Sorry, but have to disagree.
Your simply NOT that good anymore and frankly were lucky to get the result you did in England. Having said that we are both some way off both South Africa and India

Agreed AussieSpurMan... Australia have not lost in decades at the Gabba, and to beat the Aussies in Perth you need an excellent pace attack (South Africa). I'm sure the bookies would have happily taken the money off anyone dumb enough to pick an England 5-0 in Australia. Still England have been surprisingly poor, rebuilding stage for them now I'm afraid.

South Africa are the most complete team in the world at the moment. Dreading heading there after finishing with England!

It's ridiculous playing Australia over here in August and then again down under in December.

We should play them over here in December, and down under in August.

That way we'd stand a chance of getting a draw.

What next for England?. This will be 5-0 to Australia and deservedly too, the batting throughout has been woeful. Idon't know anything about contracts but a few I suspect will be ripped up.
