paper doesnt tell you how fragile the england players are mentality and i think pieterson, is the type of player who needs his team to support him and mentality his insurance to allow him to play his game.

Agreed, not to mention the fact that Australia are riding a complete wave of confidence following the results this series.

Here's a few stats I just saw on the BBC:

1. The aggregate score of all of England's first innings in this series is 969. The aggregate first-innings score of Australia's last five batsmen - its not-batsmen, in other words - is 1,071.

2. Five times England's top five batsmen have been out for a combined total of fewer than 20 runs.

3. When England are bowled out sometime in the next day and a half, as they certainly will be, it will be the first time in a five-match Ashes series they have lost all 100 wickets

They are just breezing along here making it look a flat pitch now. We seem to be in a position again where players have been picked (Borthwick, Rankin), yet they aren't trusted to bowl. Just a disastrous tour.

Borthwick just dashed Haddins chances of getting the record for most runs by a wicket keeper in a series

he did have a lucky inside edge

However if you take this in to account from the first four tests
Just proving that point earlier about the tail end, this is a shocking statistic

Late-order batting
First-innings scores in first four Tests

First five wickets: Australia 612; England 596
Australia 16 more runs

Last five wickets: Australia 842; England 218
Australia 624 more runs
You see that the england batsmen havent done as bad as that stat makes out but the Australia tail end has crushed england whilst both in front of the ball and behind it

I genuinely like Alistair Cook more than most of our own players, but he's really met you down here. Poor with the bat, far too conservative in the field. One of the all time worst tours from a captains POV.I thought he was okay last year, is he a decent captain otherwise or is there no alternative?

Cook out after some decent runs

I could be wrong but when i first saw it looked like he was going to leave it but then he went for it it was too late

That suggests mental fatigue imo

Could be wrong

Seems kookaburra bats are as badly made as kookaburra balls.

The beginning of the end is here, any hope of avoiding a whitewash must be gone now

Contemplating whether to place a bet on a draw or a win, the odds are tempting:confused:

The second innings stat makes for VERY different reading :D
