The real stars of the summer are West Indies and Pakistan for coming over, living in the bubble and putting on a show for the TV audiences round the world. England might have come out victorious, but Cricket as a sport has been the winner.
Cricket's the winner!

Now that we've established that Anderson & Broad are England's two greatest bowlers what about great players in other positions? By great, I don't just mean in an all time sort of way, but players you enjoyed watching too.

Obviously Botham could make two or three categories so i'm putting him to one side.........

I'm posting an incomplete list and will add to it as I think

OK, best opening batsmen that I saw play, Gooch, Boycott, Cook, Trescothick

Middle order, Gower, Pietersen, Lamb, Robin Smith

Wicketkeeper, Knott, Russell, Stewart, Taylor

Fielder, Derek Randall

Spinner, Underwood, Emburey, Edmonds, Swann

Captain, Brearley

Bowlers, Willis, Old

12th Man, Root :cautious:

More later. Maybe.

I'd add John Snow, Fred Titmus and Colin Milburn

Jon Snow, Chris Old, John Lever all with averages around 26/27

Just like Broad & Anderson. All very good bowlers.
None of them great like Truman ?

On captains I thought Hussain and Vaughan were fantastic

When I was a kid Graham Roope was a fantastic fielder. Brilliant slip and an amazing arm in the outfield

Moeen Ali is beautiful to watch with a bat in his hand. Loved watching Alec Stewart at his best too. Strokers, caressers and great timers of the ball

Had to turn the TV off whenever Moeen came out to bat, only averages 29 and can’t be wasting my time with that.

Before South London you were from Yorkshire weren’t you?

Was lucky enough to spend a fair bit of time with Randall, absolutely batshit crazy but a fascinating bloke.

Morgan playing a hell of a knock here. What a great and underrated one day player he is

Michael Vaughan: The problem for Pakistan is they get rid of Eoin Morgan and Moeen Ali walks out there.

The problem for Moeen is that he walks out there and walks straight back.

To be fair to Ali that was some delivery, a half tracker from the spinner ?

Vaughan didn’t have a lot of luck on comms there;

“Sam Billings really is the finisher in this side.”

Cuts straight to backward point with 1 needed to win...

Hell of a chase. Morgan in a rich vein of form, and Bairstow coming back into it. Great to watch.
