3 spinners please. no chance India don’t produce a raging burner for this one. even more important to win the toss.
My main concern with that is not so much the second innings as the first. It's at Chennai again and it didn't turn that much for 3 days. India batting first against three finger spinners, one of which hasn't played and one of the other two got taken apart in the 1st innings last test. Accompanied by one seamer who hasn't played yet and another who can't bowl many spells and who might not be able to bowl at all.

Root is adequate as a third spinner for me. We don't need to win this one, especially with the day/night coming after. I think selection A is a better balance. Find out soon though!

you make good points. i’ve sort of wiped from my mind just how poor Bess was in that 4th innings.

i’m like you, I think Root is more than adequate as another spin option. not sire how much good it’ll do his dodgy back though bearing in mind we need him to bat for 2 days and probably bowl 30 overs!

Bess in the 2nd and Leach in the 1st innings both had a bad time, but the opposite was true for each in the other innings. Archer's injury is a bit of a pain because I'm sure it would have been a straight swap Anderson for Broad. What happened to Rashid? Did I miss something as to why he isn't in the squad? He'd have been a threat for sure.

i think Rashid is still concerned about how his shoulder would hold up to Test cricket. Not sure he’ll be back in the Test picture tbh.

Can't believe Alex Hales cant make your t20 Squad. In ridiculous form here in the BBL. Ave nearly 39 and belted 30 sixes (tournament high). Best I have ever seen him play (and trust me he was pants in his first stint here with the Strikers in Adelaide)!

Morgan doesn't want him in the squad.

Yeah...but he's a complete weapon mate and Morgan is all about the team ethos.

Plus lets face it, as much as it's been good fun, the standard of your BBL this year has been absolute pap.

Well yeah. We had Briggs here at the Strikers! And Salt for that matter. Thank fuck for Rashid Khan!

Bess dropped, Anderson rested. with Archer injured and Buttler going home, that’s 4 changes to a winning team!

Interesting.

With Moeen Ali, Stuart Broad, Ben Foakes, Olly Stone and Chris Woakes coming in to the 12.

The first 3 of those must start, surely, with Woakes as the fourth? Or the pace of Stone and hope that Moeen scores a few runs!

Can see it being Moeen, to bat at 8, Foakes at 7, which is a swap for Buttler and Bess at 7 & 8. It's an interesting one, Bess has a good attitude so should rebound from this.

I hope so re Bess. Management need to keep him involved and feeling loved.

Is the second test on 4 as well?

I think all the Tests are on C4 mate, and they have highlights available, 30 mins without adverts (apart from 30 seconds at the beginning) on All4 which is the C4 app. You can also register on the ECB app/website and they show short highlights.

Do you know when the highlights for the first test went live (as it were) because i looked for the first couple of days of the first test on all 4 and there was nothing but the whole day's play.

Hmmm not sure, but I watched the half an hour highlights I reckon at about 8 or 9pm?

Day 5 highlights were on at 3 p.m. (that's when i watched them, so could have been up sooner)

Less than half an hour is a bit less than I would like. Might just make my own highlights again. And watch the deciding day fully (ish)

This pitch is turning, bouncing and bringing up puffs of dust already in the first session of Day 1!! What do you think is a good score on this pitch?
