Crawley’ got to be dropped for the next series surely? Our whole top 3 isn’t great tbh.

The state of these balls is a joke. I've never seen them changed as much. I remember reading somewhere that it's well known there's a 'bad' batch of balls, I think they get supplied in special batches or something.

Actually, a quick Google threw this up

The shit's going to hit the fan over this. You'd think.

Hameed scores a hundred for Notts today, I still say there's a player in there. Doubt he'll get another go anytime soon though.

Finally we’ve got Mitchell!?

Thank God we've seen the last of him for a good while, he gives me the screaming heebie-jeebies when he comes in to bat. He's one of those infuriating bastards you know you're going to struggle to get rid of, much like Labuschagne and/or Smith.

I think if the old regime under Silverwood and Root were still managing the side, you'd probably be right, but I think the times have changed dramatically under McCullum and Stokes. It's pretty clear Hameed's a decent enough player for his county, but like so many other openers we've tried at test level, he's failed fairly miserably, so I don't see him being given another try, but you never know. He might get picked and knock in a few tons and half tons straight off.

We might as well take another look at Vince, Ballance and Jennings. One thing's for sure, Crawley has had his chance.

Come on boys, we can do this! 113 runs needed for a white-wash 3-0 victory over the world test champions! What a start that'd be for the new management regime!

Still problems in the top order but the new regime and mindset is like a breath of fresh air. Fair play to Root as well - he has just knuckled down and has got a smile back on his face again.
Can’t remember ever being confident over run chases before. Sometimes before it felt like we were beaten before we even started.

It's been a really exciting 3 tests whatever the outcome. Both sides really being brave and going for it rather than trying to grind out draws.
If New Zealand come out of this with another defeat I think they can count themselves unlucky to lose 3-0. They've been very much in everyone of these tests and on top at various points but have been outgunned at key moments.
Whilst there have been some key errors from both, particularly in the field with plenty of dropped catches and the odd daft run out they've both served up real treats in all the tests, with them swinging this way and that. A credit to both teams in 3 very entertaining tests.....

As a New Zealander, and a Briton, I agree. Love the spirit in which these games are played. As an Aussie, I think they're both rat bag sides.

Problem with having three nationalities.

They've tried nearly all of the openers in country cricket so there is every chance it will get back around to him eventually. The obvious note of caution, as with many things in country cricket, is what was he facing? In this case it's 40 year old Tim Murtagh and Toby Roland-jones who has had injuries since playing (well) for England. If he scores plenty he'll get another go but England probably need a few new names to show up because what they have now, and those that have been tried over the last few years are not the answer.

The way we're playing Buttler's next in line!
Kumar Sangakkara suggested this yesterday as well, it'd be interesting to see how he goes opening the batting with a different mindset. I'm sure people will poo-poo the idea but i'm not so sure, it could turn out to be a very good shout. Has to be at least worth trying at some point.

And something else that occurs too (I'm a bit slow so it's probably been mentioned somewhere) but if we carry on playing like this and getting involved in 'classic' series and games, we might also slowly start to change the way test cricket is played all over the world. I know we've had teams that have been capable, or done similar but that's usually been a 'now and then' thing or by absolutely exceptional teams. It the positivity catches on, the 'traditional' way of playing test matches starts to change somewhat and is actually genius. We can't find orthodox test match batsmen, so throw that out the window and larrup the ball all over the place, take technique out of it to an extent. haha

Start delayed by rain, so i'll be watching Issy Wong (who's been put straight into the England team) play this morning. I think she's going to have a great career.
