As I said yesterday get over to the barmy army Facebook page later - it will be hilarious!Joe Root absolutely obscene
The thing is this was done at a canter. Given how long was left and wickets in hand they could have chased down 500+ at the rate they were going.First time since match 1939 that England have had two centurions or more in the 4th innings of a test.
Honestly,.. I never thought he could be this good. Atm he's world class.Jonny could bat in his sleep right now.
incredible run of form. clear mind, clear role, clear thinking.
At the rate they were going (120 runs in an hour) they could have scored several hundred more and theoretically chased almost anything. I know it doesn’t work like that but you wouldn’t rule out them chasing 500+ on the right pitch the way things are goingThe thing is this was done at a canter. Well done England.

It's all about attitude from the top. Pope got a duck, but nobody cares, everyone is talking about the lads who scored big. 12 months ago we'd all be wondering where we're going to find a decent no. 3 and agonising about his failure. There'll be plenty of ducks with this new style, but the players now believe they have permission to fail every now and then, which sets them free to play.Bairstow is on another level right now.
a couple of months ago it was "should he even be in the side" now he's one of the first names on the team sheet.
Lets not get too carried away..Mental how good we are at test cricket at the moment. Some turnaround.
India fell right off that cliff.

I think you only have to look at Lees and Crawly to see the mindset. They'll be forgotten like you say with Bairstow and Root doing what they did, but they set the tone and put the Indian bowlers on the back foot from the off. They scored over a 100 between them. Crawley had a S/R of 60 and Lees had a S/R of over 86 that's not what opening batsmen against this India pace attack should be batting at in the first hour of play with the new ball. It's all about attitude from the top.
