that is a real sickener. off ol sandpaper pig eyes as well. Extremely poor from Stokes, although also pretty unlucky

I don’t think they’re the same. Stokes is was silly but he’s dropped it in celebration. Starc slid the ball across the turf to control himself.
He hasn't. He dropped it midst landing from the jump, hence not in control of his body yet. The fact that he was also celebrating as he was landing is irrelevant. It's poor cricket.

I thought he threw it down because he thought it came off the pad and would be not out. Angle from behind shows he flicked his leg and it slipped out.
The umpire has 100% gone off of his reaction. Had stokes ran off celebrating after losing the ball, as so many do, he gives it.

If the umpire has adjudged that himself as it not being a clean catch, losing a review seems incredibly harsh.

I agree that he may have gotten away with it had he not hung his head in shame, but that's the difference between Stokes and someone like Smith. He's honest.

Regarding the review, surely the umpire should have sent it upstairs? In any case, strictly speaking, the ump said not out on field and we reviewed it. We were wrong and therefore must lose the review. Harsh, but the rules....

Yeah, remove emotion from it and in hindsight, I think it’s pretty unfortunate from Stokes. I don’t think he’s actually celebrating, it just hits his knee as he brings the ball down to his waist.

It’s massively unlucky and, psychologically, if England take Smith just before lunch, it’s game on…I think Australia take it from here, by either chasing that score or winning via the weather.

Advantage Aussie right now but two wickets changes everything. Nasser just made the comment.. 2-1 Ashes Series win, the first since 2001 on your shores.. history doesn't remember details. A draw is certainly good enough

How is it that Bairstow manages to make himself look so.....village at times? Simple take to his right and manages to punt it half way to the boundary!!
