As I expect the previous 17 pages being nothing but wishlists and QQ I will just ask Bond and Redknapp to shut their gobs.....Even I would be depressed playing for Spurs right now....(well I wouldnt, but you know what I mean..)

So Mr B and Mr R. Why would anyone play for Tottenham when obviously even our coaches says we cant compete..?

That is all..

Affelay is out for a month now so he can be ruled out.

I wouldn't rule him out - might change the deal we go for i.e. instead of purchase becomes a loan with an option which gets around the medical issues and means we don't pay upfront for a player that will miss the first 4-5 weeks of the season.

Instead of Jan 2013 if they say June 2013 with the transfer value set as 1m above the british transfer record for out going players then we should do the deal

The POTL Itk about no prices agreed makes interesting reading. He never denied that such a deal might be in place for a first option

Still find it strange POTL is coming out with itk but none of it about incoming transfers. His last bit was about vucinic developments about 2 weeks ago.

you're wording that as fact when it isn't it's guess work.

the optomism over King is based on a few factual things from this pre-season compared to the last 4. Its just about knowing the player for the past few seasons and seeing a difference in whats he's been able to do thats all. After that it's opinion on how many games he'll play for sure but no less a fact that the signs are more positive.

you're coming across a bit that you'd love to be proven right more than you'd love him to be fit to play?

Yeah, that's definitely what it is. I want the best defender of his generation to be injured rather than play for us. I'd absolutely love that because then maybe I could make a sig up with all these quotes and prove to everyone how right I was. FFS :bs:

Ledley's injuries are as a result of his inability to train. They can, and will, come at any time, usually during a match. The fact that he's been able to run about a bit during pre-season means nothing. He will continue to be injured on a regular basis. And if, and when, that happens, no, I won't come and let you know how 'right' I was.

Do you really think that Crouch/Defoe are only 1 step down from the likes of Aguero/Llorente/Rossi? No level in between which may yield some more attainable targets?

Who are they?!?! These mystical people? Names. I want names!!

I'm sure we have been trying all Summer, but with 1 friendly left before the season starts and still no-one in you surely have to begin to wonder if you have been going about things the wrong way if you really have been trying your hardest.

At 30th August, maybe. At 1st August, I think they're OK. And the two underlined bits quite clearly show that you don't think we have been trying. Which is piffle. Unjustifiable piffle.

Not being able to compete with wages is more than a snag, it's a dealbreaker. If this has been a recurring problem with everyone we have been after, then we have been going after the wrong players.

Who are these magical players that will slot in then? It's all very well going on about going after the wrong players - who are the right ones?

I really think you're overrating our current lot, if they are as good as you believe then why has there been so little interest in them when we are reportedly open to offers?

How do you know?

In fact, all of our strikers are linked with moves away at this current time. All of them!

I dont agree with the tone or detail of this post.

You underestimate one big thing regarding us - continuity. We have a very good side that only needs a couple of strong additions, particularly that uber striker.

I give up.

The post was about how much other teams have improved, while we have not.

You then go on to mention how good we could be if we sign an uber striker - but we won't, will we? They're aren't available, we can't offer the wages, and we have no CL football.

Vucinic was aas close as we would realistically get and it turns out that was never actually happening anyway.

That's the whole point. Other teams have improved significantly. I'm bored of this incessantly-repeated myth that 'other teams haven't improved really, it just sort-of looks like they have. But Charlie Adam's shit! And fat!'. We haven't improved, at all.

Jesus Navas?

Falcao and Kaka are both firm believers and active in different church groups.

Or... blessings = bless you = someone sneezed = they've got a cold = transfer window's dead.

You're right, if the OP had any clue about football he'd realise that Llorente is the most unlikely player for us to get. Quite simply Bilbao won't be selling him for less than a very over-inflated fee and Levy doesn't pay over inflated fees.

It seems that Valencia are willing to sell Mata this window and it seems we're up at the top of the list of clubs that are chasing him right now.

What's interesting with this talk of Mata, Marin, Affelay etc... is that we're clearly after another winger, Storts' info on GFTS seems very spot on. I guess it makes sense as we can pack out the midfield more and need to bring in only one striker. If we fail to bring in a striker then it won't look so bad for us as we will hopefully be attacking more from midfield.

Brazil, you seem to know a lot about them. Do you know if Bilbao would sell to Real Madrid? Or would they charge an even further inflated price to sell to them? It would take a complete conspiracy, but I'm just starting to wonder if may-be we're talking up a deal with RM regarding a future option on him if we were to get him.

I have no idea why this discussion has spiralled to this point, all I wanted to say in the first place was that I doubt the sole reason for our lack of activity is that "deals take time".

That's my opinion and yours is different, I'm not gonna go down the route of dismissing your posts as unjustifiable piffle just because I disagree with what you have put though.

For the record, and I thought this was clear from my posts, I think we have been trying, but trying in the wrong places evidently. As I said and will stand by, if you have tried your hardest and achieved nothing by this point, you are barking up the wrong tree. How you have managed to translate that into me thinkinwe haven't been trying I don't know.

If we are happy to wait until the last day to get a bargain, rather than pay a bit more and get the player we want in ahead of the season, then I think our policy is daft. It's the wages that can kill a football club these days more than transfer fees, and they aren't gonna be reduced by waiting until the end of August.

I eagerly await your response calling me an idiot.
