You read too many papers, we took an additional £40m from CL last season

I don't read newspapers, I'm too busy running a Company. This is not about transfer fees, yes we have plenty of cash to spend. Its about managing the clubs overhead and specifically players Wages.

Those players collectively probably cost us £15 - 20 million per year in overhead.

Quite honestly its time they got on with their careers elsewhere.

Redknapp saying Keane may have a future at the club doesnt help

Hot Lady, i think you are right...just hope its incoming marquee signing.
The young Spanish kid from Barcelona is suppose to arrive today.

We really need something to happen, even getting rid of a couple this week would be good, if not before you know it will be the 1st of Aug and only 2 weeks till our first game Eek

regardless of what we have earned, i cant seeing us buying much, until some are sold...itk tends to support this theory. parker is one we can afford to wait on, and therefore pay bottom dollar

I think this is right unfortunately. We have too many players who wouldn't be in either our first or second XI and we have to get rid of them before doing anything else. We really need to get rid of the likes of Hutton, Jenas, Bassong, Dos Santos, Bentley and Keane but at the same time make sure we get good money for them.

It's a tricky balancing act and one that won't be helped by a certain Croatian throwing all our plans into chaos.

i do not believe we will see any high profile signings until the M situation is resolved and possibly even the H situation is done with

I imagine we are looking to sign players who are compatible with the team and so if there is a risk/certainty that the player central to the team leaves then the players we were targeting may not now be the right ones to play with any potential replacements

Also new recruits of the highest calibre will probably want to wait to see who they will actually be playing with before signing for us

I Don't buy into this whole 'lets buy someone amazing to show Modric we mean business'

if he doesn't want to be here let him go, but make sure we get £40m+ for him. he is a little weasel but enough is enough, its not like he provides us with goals or assists.

i think Carrick could do his job.

What frustrates me is that we hear of a fee being agreed for Palacios and then a possible fee agreed for Hutton yet it takes soo bloody long to finalise these things!

Its not just us though who have taken ages to complete transfers this season. Eg Adam to Liverpool and Gervinho to Arsenal have taken ages for unknown reasons.

Whilst I take your point on board I doubt those 5 players would cost more like £10m a year not £20m

Keane £65k
Bassong £25k
Hutton £25k
Kranjar £25k
Jenas £40k

So £180k a week or £9.4m a year so even if we had to pay Er's NI on that (which I doubt very much) it would still be only about £10m a year.

Liverpool have as much deadwood as us but that didn't stop them from buying first ...i.e Aquilani,Konchesky Jovanovic,Paulson,N'Gog,Kryriakos,Cole,Agger

Danny Levy is just being Danny Levy

Seems to have gone quiet re Leandro, Rossi, Vucinic etc. Is this good news or bad?

Rossi - closing in on a deal with Juventus that includes Melo going the other way.

Vucinic - Roma adamant they want to keep him, but he wants to move to another club as he'd had problems with their fans.

Leandro - looks like we're stalled too long on this and he's going to commit his future to Inter in the coming days with a big new contract.

Hey guys, just a thought.
What would happen if Levy sacked Arry and brought Ancelotti in?
Do you think we'll be able to attract more players? Would Modric reconsider his move?
Just a thought...

Yep and all of those players will be earning 40k a week (more in some cases) and if Liverpool don't get rid of them they'll cost the club over 16m a year. Paying 16m a year for players that don't play is, to say the least, dumb and I'm glad our chairman isn't putting us in a position where that could happen to us.

I've said from the star that if we get this window wrong then Levy needs to be criticised, but just because you're being petulant and impatient doesn't mean he's done anything wrong.

Regarding Harry Redknapp's court case, and the SA tour. i have found these 2 snippets of info
as he(Redknapp) has a court appearance scheduled to begin on July 18. Redknapp is charged with two counts of cheating the public revenue totalling an estimated £40,000. He denies the allegations and will stand trial at Southwark Crown Court. Spurs believe there is little chance of Redknapp being able to join them for any stage of the tour.
His assistant Kevin Bond and first-team coach Joe Jordan will lead the trip, with Clive Allen, another member of the backroom team, also travelling
.

and
The club’s executive director, Donna Cullen, explains: “We will look to bring him if the dates make it possible. However, he has got a private tax case that needs to be heard in court on the dates. Those dates coincide with the dates of the tour to South Africa.
“But those (court) dates can change because these things are never set in stone. If the courts change their scheduling then Harry would come out.”
