If our window consisted of us selling Modric and buying Odemwingie/Gyan/Sturridge to be our star striker, I'd very possibly kill myself.

I tend to think we will spend, though...Levy knows this is a make or break season and the ability to sell Modric (and perhaps Bale) for mega-money this summer/january/next summer if the gamble doesn't pay off would allow us to take a few risks I think.

Has anyone else seen his party trick?

The kid can balance a ball on the back of his neck while he takes his shirt off

I'm amazed Wenger didn't tap him up before us

It would of been a different story if it was his shorts :shake:

Neither him nor Welbeck impressed me at all during the recent U21 tournament

Sturridge is better IMO...and he impressed me over the course of the season which is a much better guage really, although the U21 side didn't really impress me full stop.

It's not the taking his shirt off bit that appeals...it is that he has to bend down to do it

you get the feeling that the Ceballos announcement has been rushed out - there isnt the normal shirt holding/wearing picture of him on the OS

unless of course it really isnt that important........

They normally only do the shirt thing for first team players

No but Sturridge sure as hell looks impressive in the premier league

He had a good run of goals at Bolton but I think he has a long way to go before he establishes himself as a top striker, to date he certainly hasn't done anything Darren Bent did not and he was deemed not good enough for us.

I remember Carlton Cole being touted as an impressive talent and next big thing before his less than successful loan spell at Villa.

While I'll admit his form and goal scoring record at Bolton was impressive I am still not convinced by a kid enjoying one purple patch in pretty much his first season in the league (in terms of regular starts)

Defoe, Michael Rickets and Marcus Stewart all had short spells looking very impressive without sustaining long term and Kevin Phillips always scored goals but would not have been someone we wanted to sign.

I was of the opinion that the U21 tournament would be a good litmus test of Sturriages true potential and his lack of postive impression on me is enough for me to at least question his ability to go on to be a top striker in our league (plus he is more of an "upgrade" on Defoe than the lead the line striker we actually need currently)

I think overall he's good player, with great finishing ability. I've seen quite a bit of him and he looks like he's got the talent to be a mainstay at this level.

I dont think is a purple patch either, I think the kid is the real deal and he'll only get better as he learns the game and his position.

I hope so, lord knows we need a quality striker for the national team.

I'm just not so sure personally, it wouldn't surprise me if he was Defoe mark 2

I doubt we are gonna get a big upgrade on what we have, then when we don't get cl again this team will be broke up and sold off. If this happens time to accept we can't compete without a new ground. We're gonna have to go back to buying young and cheap and just accept we're a selling club and Europa team not a cl team, we can't expect to be cl team when we pay Europa wages. Unfortunately finances dictate the modern game and we don't have enough, maybe when we get a new ground or a sugar daddy things will change

I don't see what Harry said wrong today.

Well why did he talk about figures when discussing how much Modric is worth, when we have catagorically said that we are not prepared to sell at any price?:shrug:
