Two things I've heard from a guy on another forum (knows his stuff usually)

1: Pienaar will be back to Everton on loan in January,
2: We're looking at a winger from DC United, Andy Najar. Wikipedia page states he was on trial here a few weeks ago.

Two things that'd get discussion :)

Najar is still on trial with us but wont be signing permanently as he's only at the club to get experience.

He has tremendous potential and is already a standout player in the MLS.

Ridiculous.

Levy won't sell to a rival mid season, and Sinclair is average, that said, maybe he's perfect for Liverpool.

I personally think Zamora would be a fantastic back up for Adebayor but could not see him wanting to come for the odd appearance, basically he would be relying on Adebayor picking up a hefty injury to get regular playing time.

That's a non starter.

However I do think that we seriously need to get somebody in who can hold the ball up effectively and at least partly fill the void if Ade gets injured. If he picks up a serious injury and we have no replacement I don't think we'll get fourth, its fine lines at the top.

We need somebody to come in who is prepared to be second choice and wait for there chance. That rules out most good players in their prime etc, either an older head who is quite happy to come in and out of the side or a youngster with big potential who is willing to settle in gradually.

I think it would be remiss of us not to address this situation in January.

It would.
I think Leandro (or similar) would be perfect.
If current reports are to be believed, I can't see it happening. If it had already been done, I can't see why Levy wouldn't have already announced it.

Eek Seriously doubt that.
So, let me get this straight: in the last season and a half, United have wanted to buy Kaboul, Sandro, Modric, Huddlestone, Lennon, Bale and VDV - and are regetting not making a move for Parker. That would be 6 of our 1st team, and two of our reserves.
 Perhaps they should just approach Dan Levy with a view to being the junior partners in an imalgamation

Yeah, that is how I read the sounds coming out of DC when he came over...just for experience, not for a move.

Leandro'd be very expensive, he's recognised as a world class player now. We'd do incredibly well to get him.

Yeah...that's what I'm saying really. Unless we have a deal in place already, I can't see it happening now; and if we do have a deal in place already, I can't see any reason why it wouldn't have been announced.

I have this feeling that we may just make another go for him

I hope so...I know some SCers aren't sold on him, but I just have this suspicion that he would have a similar impact to Sandro, and, being so you, would go a long way to making the future of the team.

the thing is, its now or never because his price is just going to go up, i hope we don't miss out the next ronaldo

But who else can we sign that would be cheaper and a improvement on our current lot

On the one hand, it would have been better if Levy had went all out for him in the Summer, as he will only get more expensive. On the other hand, there must be some advantage in having a club partnership with Inter. I've discussed this with BrasilS, in the Leandro thread. As long as we are prepared to make a good offer I tthihnk we still have a chance of getting him.

I really can't see anyone else who would be so ideal...hell, we even have his best buddy in the whole wide World (Sandro) at the club. I have been fully supportive of Rednapp's desire to compliment our fine young squad with some experience (I even said the Hell-Boy deal made perfect sense, when most everyone else was daming it to hell), but Amauri instead of Leandro = that's just mental.
