Five more out during this window (Fazio, Carroll, Lennon, Soldado, Adebayor) and three more in seems pretty ambitious. I don't disagree with any one of the individual moves - although I think Fazio was a more useful player than many on here seem to - but it's starting to feel a bit like a trolley dash.

So what with Fazio and Carroll now seemingly on the verge of exits, this eats into the proposed '4 more departures' from our squad.

You would still very much imagine that Adebayor and Lennon would be the other two that we wish to discard ASAP and in an ideal world, sell Soldado and Townsend should acceptable offers come in.

Agree with pretty much everything here. Lots of moves to be made with only a few weeks left...although if the wheels are truly/have been in motion on Ade/Lennon/Soldado/NJie/Berahino for a while then that certainly makes the goal more attainable.

Always sad to see some one we've had high hopes for over a number of years leave, but as others have mentioned he needs to be getting first team football now.

Pritchard would be a better alternative to Eriksen.

Yeah - I've not been very clear on whether he's better off the wing coming infield or down the middle. But then I'm not sure Pochettino has decided on Eriksen's role similarly.

An incisive pass from Eriksen.. wouldn't that be a sight for sore eyes.
Who's he going to pass to though? Kane's always double marked, and Chadli and Lamela\Dembele\Andros hardly ever make any runs in behind. I think when we get N'Jie and maybe Berahino, you will see some more slide-rule stuff from Eriksen.

People criticising Fazio should remember the team defended much better when he was in the team despite some sketchy individual moments.

Don't see any way of Carroll playing as it stands and even less so if we hopefully buy a couple more before end of window.
I'm not a fan of his, don't think he's progressed since 18 and I really don't think he will ever be good enough. A lot won't agree, but I just don't see him having what it takes to really succeed in PL, hope I'm wrong and wish him well if he goes.
Also I really wouldn't want him getting in the way of Winks, who has the possibility to improve on all the things that Carroll didn't manage to and from what I've seen has certain attributes that Carroll simply never will have.

We have Pritchard for that, and Poch seems to see Dembele as a CAM rather than a CM. The kid has been on loan season after season too, I don't blame him for wanting to leave, if he indeed does. No sense in keeping him if he isn't going to play. We have too many youngsters waiting for their own chance.

I guess if the Coaching staff see enough alternatives, a decent bid comes in and he wants to leave it makes sense.

Mason at 24 however would suggest that Carroll could still shine; but in today's footballing world if you're not amazing aged 18 and tearing it up like Ronaldo, you're not worthy (from a fan's perspective).

Given Tom Carroll's game isn't reliant on pace, I think he'll do well but agree we seem to have 'better' / more promising alternatives.

(1) I suggest you watch Chadli's goal highlights from last year and amend your statement.
(2) If you knew you were never going to see the ball, would you keep running for no reason?

Sometimes you've got to clear the decks though, even though you may still rate the player. Possibly Carroll could become a 6 or 7/10 PL player, but will another one in the way stunt Winks, Onomah etc? Does the club think they could become 8 or 9/10s?

Pritchard is simply better (despite being younger). Goals and an eye for a pass. Recent goal vs Milan aside, Carroll is not enough of a goal threat to succeed in the PL as a #10 IMHO. Obviously if we sign an N'Jie or Berahino looking for through balls he could be useful but I think Eriksen and Pritch can find those passes too. Couple that with the breakthroughs of Bentaleb and Mason and the signing of Alli and there's little space for him. Just came through at the wrong time unfortunately for him.

Carroll was apparently an extremely prolific striker in our youth team, far more so than Kane ever was, think it's been said he broke records. So I don't agree he's not a goal threat. Someone in the spurs set up considered him so talented they should move him back. Think we have really failed Tommy as a player, he is obviously not made for CM and that's where we put him. Sad, he will show his talent one day and I think it would be as a #10. Form wise in post and pre season he deserved to start ahead of Eriksen for me.

He could of been our Zola :(

Depends, it seems we have done work behind the scenes on a lot of our targets, I'd expect most to go through smoothly if the difficult part (always the fee) can be agreed. Lloris and Alli would be examples of this. Certain sources saying all agreed for weeks and then they pop up on deadline day.

N'Jie comes in this week and we still have over two weeks to bring in two more. Very doable when you consider the ITK that the personal side of the Berahino deal has been 90% done for a while. That just leaves the CDM, and even then we must be getting some encouragement from agents due to not switching targets.

Outgoings wise Soldado seems mostly done, Adebayor will be allowed to talk to anyone and Lennon, Fazio and Carroll would likely be straight forward deals.

1. Yeah, Chadli does it on occasion - the Chelsea home game, for instance, he was like a monster, constantly in motion, but then whole games he's too static. Such an infuriating guy sometimes.

2. It's a chicken egg thing. Eriksen's shown at Ajax he has vision, and he's talked about having to change his game since he's come here. I really think, with a more classical Dutch system, with pacey runners out wide, he can playmake.
