Have we ever sold a player that's gone on to be amazing? Players that we weren't forced into selling
Graeme Souness.

On ITK note and worry of signing no DM, I didn't think Dier looked too bad at DM, so he could be option to play there, however if Fazio goes, we may also need him at CB.

I can't even get excited about N'Jie because I am so upset about Carroll. Thought for sure he showed enough in preseason for a real shot at the first team this season. Always wonder what could have been with him.

Maybe Carroll is now at the point in his career where he wants assurances that he will start a certain % of games etc.
Maybe it's HIS choice to move on rather than ours....

Carroll is championship bound I guess good luck to him.
He needs first team football at this stage of his career he won't get it at the lane.
Best for all parties

The Carroll info is interesting. Think it leaves us short handed at CM. But I guess it means that both Winks and Onomah will be staying rather than one of them being loaned out.

This is probably the case. Wish we had handled his loans and what not a little better, but I am glad we are not making the same mistakes with the newest batch of youth.

Doubt it if Scout was so convinced he was coming here. Sounds to me like the player has made his mind up to come here but West Brom are hoping for more.

FWIW, and I haven't heard a lot on this one, but I get the impression West Brom actually want to sell him, if he won't sign a new deal, and as of now he won't.

I'm convinced WB want him gone - don't think Pulis wants him in the dressing room if he wants out, hence Rondon the other day.

But I remain pretty convinced that certainly the club and agent/people want City, even if the player might have expressed a preference for us. I reckon given the choice he'd find the chance to win titles too tempting to resist.

Championship is a big step down for him. Did well for Swansea, an upper mid-table side on the cusp of Europe, before he got hurt, IMO.

After the bits I heard regarding West Brom and training last week, my own personal opinion is that Pulis was told to play him the weekend in order to make a statement to any interested clubs.

I didn't think he.played much for swansea

He played a part in most of the Swansea games until mid January, either coming on as a substitute or starting (but usually not playing a full game). When we told Swansea we didn't want to sell him, they bought Jack Cork in the Jan window, and after that Carroll didn't play again.

Absolutely - the whole two up front thing looked contrived from the start.

Clubs?? Who else are in for him then? City? If so why are we wasting our time on him? They always choose the money, the English fools that is.

*Previous post edited, before over examination of what I clearly said was my own personal opinion leads to mass suicide.

There seems to have been more media speculation linking Berahino with Spurs rather than City, but some tabloid stuff linked to on the BBC website last week mentioning City rather than us. I can't recall any ITK mentioning Man City specifically, but did mention that WBA may be waiting on bigger offers IIRC.

That's really interesting - particularly since Pulis came out and made specific comments about how it was 'his choice' and 'his error' etc. Bit odd that - you'd have thought he'd have just kept his mouth shut and accepted they were beaten by title contenders.

It was also really very different from any sort of tactic Pulis had employed before - you'd have put money on him playing a very defensive team against any of the top 6-7 teams.

FFS! I mean, the level of dissection of people's posts is beyond Beautiful Mind levels.
