Although i dont actively want any one of our first teamers to leave i could accept walker and dier if it was daft money. Every player has an amount you can't say no to.
Dier is in all honesty not first choice in any position he plays even though he is important for us.
Selling a player for an acceptable amount, doesnt necessarily make us a selling club
He played 36 of 38 games in the league last season. Clearly he's first choice.

Levy hasn't dealt with Utd since the Berba deal and I'm sure there's still bad blood. Absolutely no chance we will sell Dier to Utd. IMO Walker will be the only first team player to go.

Dier, leaves me feeling what an ungrateful bastard. We plucked him from obscurity ffs.

I can't help feeling that half these players won't be as good as they think they are when they go to pastures new.

Look at Liverpool.
Don't be too hard on him until he actually does something.

Last I heard from him was yesterday talking about the first fixtures of the new season and how excited he is for the Newcastle and Chelsea games.

I think there's a strong argument to say that the 3-4-2-1 was as much a way of accommodating both Dier and Wanyama in the same side as anything else. Dier is one of Poch's generals. Can't imagine Poch wanting to get rid at all.

I'm still banking on this cryptic being a potential incoming anyway...

umm....Spurs and Modric re: Chelski?
Liverpool and Suarez re: Arse
PS it's also a WC year

We still lost Modric and Liverpool still lost Suarez, albeit a year later and not to EPL rivals.

But still, how was it beneficial to us?

The point i was making wasnt that he isnt first choice in terms of one of the 11 names on the team sheet. My point is if we play 4-2-3-1 dier is neither chosen as a CD ahead of toby or jan, or as CM ahead of moussa or vinny. Thats why i said he isnt first choice in any position and in my opinion although he is important to how we can transition between formations in a game he isnt indespensible.

Modric stayed another season and played very well. Plus when he eventually left, it wasn't to one of our direct domestic rivals.

Modric was our best player in, at the time, our best season for decades. We didn't have to watch him in the PL for Chelsea.

Suarez was Liverpool's player of the season, they almost won the league, and they made far more money in selling him to Barca, and never had to watch him in the PL for Arsenal.

Now how does it go again? . Ah yes!, that's right.

Nobody will be leaving who Poch wishes to keep.

Eric Dier...Yours for one Anthony Martial.

Maybe we should avoid a full meltdown over Dier when it could easily be nothing to do with him...

Trix's post makes me think it definitely is about Dier. If it's not...I would hope he wouldn't post that emoji and bold the name as that can lead to wild speculation as we are seeing now.

Wether the cryptic has anything to do with it or not is irrelevant. Trix' comment clearly shows there's something to watch re Dier.

Is this the comment from weeks ago?

Dier to Utd was in the papers back then, it has since cooled down considerably, there was talk of Levy telling them to do one and shortly after the Matic to Utd links started. I have no doubt they tried to get him, and no doubt he was interested, but seems likely to me we've put our foot down, and rightly so if true.

Edit: Ok I've seen the post being referred to now, shitty cryptic if true :( I'm guessing Utd have really stepped up their tapping up again...

If Dier goes, genuinely wouldn't be surprised if Poch goes, if we sell him AND Walker, I would lose faith in what we're doing which I'm sure the players will too.

If we sell him, who do we replace him with? The reason we have done so well is because we can change formation in matches without making a sub.

What a joke losing 2 first teamers in one summer would be.

I was enjoying people trying to work out the cryptic until the answer has seemingly been found.

I don't want to lose Eric. :( It is a great time for the club but it would be a bit disheartening to lose two first team players to direct rivals in one summer!

What? Trix probably doesn't know what the Goat's ITK was about. But whether it was from him or not, he clearly thinks we should keep an eye on the Dier situation.

Dier to United?
Walker to City?
Cannot believe we'd even contemplate any of those transfers.
If they did happen we may as well all give up.
