That's the exact point, @Breezer's info seems to have been passed by when he's probably one of the steadiest ITKS there is. People seeem to want to focus on the shitty end of the stick rather than the clean, comfortable handle. We need a pooh chronicle to lighten the mood.
I think to most people on here who might not be as interested in the youth team, the losing Dier stuff eclipsed keeping a player they may have only vaugley heard was a good youth player. Im really happy of the news about Edwards but its probably been drown out in regards to losing one of our 1st eleven

i can understand why levy is tight on wages, but it should only be for the players we SIGN ( though it seems like like we are paying sissoko 80kpw)
for players that have proven themselves, both ability and attitude, i dont see what we shouldnt be breaking the wages structure for their extension contract.
people say oh then people will want parity, unhappy blah blah. the message we will be sending out is " stay loyal, play well, show good attitude, and we will make sure you become rich"

imagine you train well, work hard, stay loyal, but your boss fucking penny pinch and squeeze every penny out of you because you are a "bargain", how would you feel? if it was my job, and knowing that other companies are head hunting me, wants to pay me double the salary, have as good of a future in terms of career, sorry guys as much as i love this office, i'm leaving because i want to take care of my family as well. its a short lived career and i hope levy can stop thinking that he is always making "bargain" deals.

loyalty is a 2 way street. if you want the players to pledge their allegiance then make them feel wanted instead of making them think that they are just bargains. pay those who are worth it

I think we should offer big performance related pay boosts but keep the flat rate low. Then if the players want to moan about the clubs ambition it's up to them to match it...

Win the league/cup etc. and get an extra million for example.

Especially if they spend £30m on an office clown.

The amount players earn is disgusting and it's pretty hard to swallow but fact of the matter is we are seriously underpaying the vast majority of our team.

In today's market and in comparison to the piles of shite that are earning stupid sums, the best striker in the league and one of the best strikers in the world (Kane) should be on close to 200k. One of the best players of his ilk in the league (Eriksen), one of best young players in Europe (Dele), best CB, LB and RB (Toby, Rose and Walker) should all be earning 150k a week.

If I know it and most fans if honest know it then the players will certainly be thinking it. Whether the obvious positives of remaining at Spurs is enough it's hard to know but ignoring there isn't the chance of a storm potentially brewing is a bit delusional.

and how do we increase to that structure on today's income which would still mean breaking the FFP rules? and do we insert terms that if we fail to qualify for the CL they have to take massive drops?

Everyone of those players that signed new contracts at the start of last season, know that if they were to go to the 5 clubs that are richer than us they could double their wages, so why did they sign if they want more money? Yes signing them last season meant they received an automatic pay raise, but they also know that we are under restrictions due to the NPD, though I suppose there is always a chance of extra raise this season might of been nipped in the bud due to brexit doubling the cost of the NPD.

i understand where you are coming from, but the flat rate cannot be too far off and the bonuses have to take it OVER what outside pays.

if outside is paying 100 guaranteed, and spurs pay me 75-80 with bonuses that adds up to OVER 100, i will take the deal.

if outside pays me 100, spurs pay me 75 flat, but bonuses only adds up to 100, why the hell am i staying in spurs when i can have some guaranteed money + equivalent prospects in career?

and if outside is paying 200, with spurs paying only 100, its a no brainer unless you are some 18year old kid who needs game time to hone their skills to become truly world class players, simply because they have the allowance to still delay their payday, not players in prime

Not yet, but it's coming. The BSoDL haven't woken up yet :woot:
Fully awake, just applying the salt that you so often advise is required with ITK.
There's enough emotional swingers on here as it is, and the window hasn't even opened yet!

Time enough to react WHEN it happens, if it ever does, rather than become an emotional wreck over rumours.

nearly 50 pages and a signing Ronaldo thread? Ive missed this sheet.

Just found yesterday's read only, has there been worse and then better today? I'm going to believe that it's just agents agitating, and Levy and Poch between them will pull us through more or less intact.

Come on. We are not even close to violating the FFP rules (which are a joke, by the way). We made a 33 million profit last fiscal year after tax. The money is there. Players and, more importantly, their agents can read financial statements.

I'd have thought we have to maintain a positive bank balance or profit to satisfy our creditors over the stadium borrowing. Has to be demonstrated before the lenders will trust.

Everton will be and they've just spent £54m in a couple of days!! Everton!!
Very depressing itk...
We are on the brink of something very special as a club, Levys surely not going to jeopardise it all is he?...

Maybe we spent our 54M on all the renewed contracts this year with players that Everton wished they had/could buy!

I bet most of the people on here don't even know he gets info.

Dov posted some ITK from FTL (i think) about it being done for 12M with a loan back.

Thanks. Good to know.

I'm fine with Walker leaving, if it's for a fee over $40M. I have mixed feelings about Dier. I love his leadership qualities. And he's such a versatile player. But he isn't first choice defensive midfielder. That's Wanyama. He isn't a first choice CB either. Unless we are playing in a back 3. But even then, I wouldn't say our team would be pulverized without him back there. So, if Man U were to approach us with a silly bid of $60M, I think it ought to be considered. As I feel that we are potentially one very good CB and a covering defensive midfielder away from him being a squad player. $60M is a lot for a player that isn't guaranteed to start in every game. Between him and Walker, we'd potentially bring in $100M. Plus, if you add to that whatever budget we already had to spend (maybe 30 to 40M), then we have a very siginificant chunk of money to bring in four or five very good players in positions where we need the most help.

That all said. I'd rather we keep him. Keep our whole squad together, as the whole is better than the sum of its parts. It's what's got us this far, and will take us even further.

Just trying to see a silver lining in what could potentially be a rather depressing scenario, should it come to pass.
