Don't think we've ever come even close to sorting out the squad like this before.

Great isn't it.

Its promising stuff so far.

However I'm going to wait until the end of the window to offer judgement.

We have PLENTY of work to do.

Whilst the great big clear out doesn't make for the greatest summer of entertainment I don't think you can underestimate how important it is. I can't imagine how much we have saved in wages and if we get rid of Soldado,Ade,Lennon and Fazio that saving is even better.

Really next summer we are heading towards having an incredibly streamlined squad, a new phase of youth products knocking on the door and the necessary funds to make that one gamechanging transfer to instantly improve our first 11.

Exciting times and even with our 2011 squad I never felt as good about the squad as a whole.

Given Soldado was excluded from the US tour and the game vs UTD (despite us being short of striker options and him not being a reported off field problem), it appears Hertyid's info was spot on. Villarreal have seemingly had this tied up for sometime and we only released him once a replacement was found. Would be interesting to know how much we recouped on Soldado and what we ended up paying Valencia in the end for him.

I'm already struggling to pronounce Toby's surname let alone N'Jie...

Thank god we didn't end up with Konoplyanka too :bag:

Lets hope Bobby doesn't pass the strikers curse onto Clinton mid air. When you think of Rebrov, Postiga, Pav etc...we've had some high hopes get crushed following the old chicken badge aint we

Agree. They're all near each other in the alphabet, maybe the nearer to A we get the better they'll be!

FUCK!!! We better get Austin NOW!!!!!

I've been looking at it slightly more differently, than N'Jei (sp) for Soldado, but looking at Clintin being the Lennon (type) replacement - quick attacking wing/forward, with Bobby off, surely it means another 'striker'... rather than this Clinton fella..?

I'm usually way off, but it's just how I saw it.

The question is why did we bother holding back when we had no intention of using him. N'Jie has effectively replaced thin air based on the season so far...

Who's the replacement, n'jie isn't a striker.

Not that it should be discussed anywhere but in his thread obviously!

I'm in agreement. NJie fills the pacy wide forward void we've had for the last year. Bobby going means a CF/forward (Berahino, maybe). Exciting times

It would suit that formation of 3 attacking players behind the stand along striker...

We definitely need pace on the right/left (dare I say a townsend/N'jie combination...)

Not sue Twonsend will be with us, but he's probably the quickest most direct we have in the squad at the moment.
