The question is why did we bother holding back when we had no intention of using him. N'Jie has effectively replaced thin air based on the season so far...

I think there was ITK that Poch was nonplussed about using Soldado or not. Obviously he wanted an upgrade but as Bobby wasn't a bad egg around the camp, he was happy to use him if he had too. Can't remember which ITK reported that.

We definitely need pace on the right/left (dare I say a townsend/N'jie combination...)


Not sue Twonsend will be with us, but he's probably the quickest most direct we have in the squad at the moment.

I think Townsend might go, with Dembele being kept for utility purposes- CM, WF (though too slow really) and CAM. Townsend is WF, but so is Lamela, NJie, Chadli and Pritchard (also CAM?). I don't think Townsend is less effective than Dembele (both have their faults) but he is less versatile.

Whilst the great big clear out doesn't make for the greatest summer of entertainment I don't think you can underestimate how important it is. I can't imagine how much we have saved in wages and if we get rid of Soldado,Ade,Lennon and Fazio that saving is even better.

Really next summer we are heading towards having an incredibly streamlined squad, a new phase of youth products knocking on the door and the necessary funds to make that one gamechanging transfer to instantly improve our first 11.

Exciting times and even with our 2011 squad I never felt as good about the squad as a whole.

And sets us up for the Stadium. Streamlined team, lower wage output, youth and potential (which if they come good is good on the pitch and off the pitch as would save us money on future reinforcements).

Its comforting to know that Dier will hhave a big part to play in the squad if / when Fazio goes as the ITK suggests. I was worried with the addition of Toby & Wimmer he would be pushed down. Not if / when Faz goes.

On the upside and on topic I think GreyFox, JJ and Trix have pretty much confirmed N'Jie is done now. Every bit we get done now is less to do on dead line day!

Not really- it's a conversation borne out of Soldado's imminent departure and the implications on future purchases which have been alluded to by some itk. There's far more irrelevant posts prior to mine.
