Glad we are looking at good CB's. Ginter looks like he will turn out to be a quality player. My only concern with him is he likes to wonder out of position and join the attack a bit too much.

Don't know much about Dier, can any one fill us in? Just know he is English but doesn't have HG status.

"But could change if Ade is out longer than expected." Isn't Ade only expected to be out for a week?

Ade is supposed to be out for a week.....but he did get a bout of Malaria, its not exactly like getting a nose bleed, has been known to linger especially if it isn't caught immediately.

His sounds like it was caught early, which is why they are giving the short time period but wouldn't be a massive shock if it lingered a bit.

:sigh: we are not likely to sign anyone until we get back from the US tour, are we? thats why all the ITK have been saying it will be a while imo

What's wrong with this, I'd rather Pochettino and Co. assessed all the players we have first and how they adapt to his tactics before rushing out and buying.

Siggy and Daws wont leave and are clogging up our system and now we are looking at a couple of 4th or 3rd rotation CBs, its not really that encouraging as we need to find some one who can dominate in that position.

Not very encouraging when you consider the movement in the clubs above us.

If we are going to compete with them we need to do more than this. Perhaps we are and we just don't know about it but we certainly need to raise the bar a bit.

Really depends how good those young players are, there will always be new players coming onto the scene, some never really step up others thrive and become big names

Then of course there's value for money and attitude, with Soton supposedly wanting £20 mill for Lovren and the player himself looking to move after just one season there are some obvious attractions about a couple of young players that can offer something now but with huge potential going forward and who are more likely to be happy to be around for at least a few years

I can't say I know much about either Dier or Gintner but if the scouts have done their homework these lads could be very good additions

Centre back is such an issue.

Dawson: not good enough, to be sold, 30
Kaboul: long term fitness & whether he retains ability to prove, 28
Vertonghen: If he's staying, 27
Chiriches: I like Vlad, 24.

Massive vacancy for at least 1 young player maybe another more experienced.
Long term we're not set at all.

I did not say anything was wrong with it - but since you asked: waiting makes it more difficult to assimilate new players later into the pre-season. By the sounds of it, we have talked to teams about selling Dawson and/or Sigurdsson - so presumably Pochettino has seen enough of them to know they are not his first choice for the starting XI. Playing MLS squads are not going to provide much of a test - the style they play is very different from what we will face in the league - and I wonder how much training they'll get in while traveling across the stats and in-between meet-and-greets.

Its more or less a :sigh: because the US tour is just bad timing, when combined with the WC, for a new manager to get down to the business of squad building.

So North London or Turin. That doesn't help us.
but if it was between staying in Turin at an average facility or coming to London(which is a great city) at a world class facility. would u like to work for a massive company but in a crappy office or move to smaller company (but still huge) and work in a brand new top of the range office.

People want 2 CBs and many mention a young option. I want 1 first teamer and let Fryers/Velkovic have a chance

I agree that this tour is a waste of time, especially considering it is World Cup year and we have a new manager trying to get his ideas across. They want to go on a promotional junket they should arrange these for a week at the end of a season. It seems though the US market is the be all and end all for the club at the moment. Put it this way, it would be nice for example if the official site/twitter/FB etc put as much effort and thought into the other 99% of its operation as it has promoting the crap out of this tour for the past fortnight...
