After posting 'Deal' about Diarra, POTL also responded to someone else's ITK off here (cant rememebr who) but essentially he discredited it all with the exception of a comment about Diarra being 99% done and waiting for Wilson to leave.

It possibly also depends on where we can ship Bassong off to in a p/e.

There was ITKk of him going to Germany (Wolfsburg) earlier in the summer, so that may be an option as well as Bolton or Blackburn.

I can see a few clubs being keen on Bassong (though not necessaily in part exchange - as you say Bolton and Blackburn are options (and both could use him even if they keep Cahill and Samba) and QPR need some defenders after saturday so lets hope Tony's cash finds its way across to us.

To me, and im sure 99% others, deal means "its done"

Got to agree with this. If POTL got it wrong he should just say so, he'd get more respect for admitting it than covering it up IMO(unles it really is done).

With the recent ITK saying a deal for a German defender (I assume Tasci) is very close ... why are we still pursuing Cahill/Samba?

Is it possible that King as we know, can't be relied upon (injuries), Bassong may still leave and that Gallas' fitness is turning into a major issue? Hence the purchase of 2 new centre backs (Tasci and Samba or Cahill)?

Didn't Someone (may-be the Journo) say that we were playing our bids off against other clubs to try and get the best deal?

CB - Cahill is the CB i've wanted all summer, class act. Him and Daws would be a brilliant pairing

CM - Diarra, lets hope we get it done cos he'd be brilliant.

CF - Any one of the players we've been mainly linked with I'd be happy with.

WF - God knows, if we wanted then why didn't we go for N'Zogbia???

If we can add a good CF and Winger to signings of Cahill and Diarra, I'd be made up

This. Lets hope a few of the itk posted recently can continue to up our interest in these areas, if not these exact players - after watching the opening games of the season we really can have a go for champions league probably higher! Yum yum

No - it'll be 1 of the 3 and we'll be hedging our bets/pushing for the best deal. CB surely isn't a major priority when we don't have any strikers!

It possibly also depends on where we can ship Bassong off to in a p/e.

I'd like to see Bassong used in a deal bringing either Cahill or Tasci to the club. I can't see us getting our money back on him through a direct sale, so he might be more valuable as a bargaining chip when trying to bring in a new centre back.

Bringing in two though would seem to be unnecessary. Even if King and Gallas can't feature too often, we'd still have Dawson, Kaboul and Cahill/Tasci/(hopefully not) Samba with Corluka and Huddlestone as emergency centre backs if needed.

We'll have a full season to see how Caulker fares in the Premier League. If he's a success, he'll be part of our four, if not THEN we can look at bringing a new centre back in.

I swear this brinkmanship game that we're playing is going to see us miss out on our targets.

It's just so frustrating.

Its getting more and more frustrating as the days go by,and Arsenals situation is not helping things.I think some of our transfer interests are also some of theirs, and they need to bolster their squad quickly too....Cmon Spurs get a move on!!!

At least we have only 16 days until the window shuts, this window has been really depressing, and no match on saturday didnt help matters.

I don't know, the idea of JJ, Niko and Pav jogging around the Lane on Saturday as if they're still on a beach in the Caribbean, up against Phil Neville and his all-action friends would have been more depressing.

For some reason, i've always found CM's ITK very plausible. He doesn't make outrageous claims and it all seems logical. Am i right in thinking that he has never given us any clue as to the type of person he gets his info from. I appreciate the sensitivities about revealing his source but was just curious as his sounds very much like internal spurs ITK rather than agent gossip etc.

So it's alright to ITK bash if your the chosen one.

You know what, he could at least specifiy which parts rather than just having a dig at another ITK.

Man up or shut up.

Spursmad321 on SO, replying to a post "I would absolutely love it if Spurs signed a young striker for £10-£15m this week on £60,000 a week, sourced from a European league, and who fit our requirements." :

I believe we will do very very soon

 We will definitely have a new striker.

We will have a new striker that we haven't been link with in this window before the window shuts

Well I haven't see this one linked.

With the strikers we currently have, I think Popeye would be an improvement.

Yes I do believe you will be happy.

I've obviously taken his snippets and ignored what's been asked. You can work it out. Won't be going in the Read Only, but worth passing on.

I do find this attitude pretty appauling tbh. He doesn't post anything of any value himself any more, then goes all aloof. Even if he specified which part he felt was incorrect (hopefully about the Diarra fee) it might be reasonable to be critical about other ITK.

It cheers me reminding how he was slapped down by Peanut and how he shot his load far too early on Diarra.

I Know what you mean, but against a Everton side lacking key men, would have been a handy 3 pts, now we have to play them on a cold windy night in February now instead, when Everton start to play.
