"Poor old Benjamin, I keep calling him but he just doesn't hear me. So I took him to see Dr Ross, who has done a really good job of fixing him."

Someone poor and old = ill(a)
Benjamin needs fixing = mend(i)

That's my partial stab at it.

Going by the Times crossword style the first sentence gives Berahino:

Benjamin = the easy 1st part solution from the capital letter B = Berahino

B.... no hear ...I = the more obscure part which is an anagram and also = Berahimo

That's one down (for me at least) still working on two across.....

Everyone's just guessing players we've been linked with. I reckon the cryptic is someone new!

Especially as Trix has said no-one is even close so far, which means not Berahino or Illaramendi (even though people will continue to post that it's them)

When did he say noone was close? He said he'd confirm the answer once someone guessed it correctly.

The above and adding 'breaking benjamin song 'sooner Or Later' .... bera will happen either way?

My instant thought with the Dr - was Dries Mertens.
Depends if Chadli has been employed as negotiator - he does want the whole team to be from Belgium...
