As for people talking about Uncle Joe breaking open his piggy bank and increasing our wage limits etc, doesn't this run counter to Financial Fair Play rules. I'm not sure when they come in or what exactly they involve apart from knowing that clubs are supposed to be relying on income they generate to pay the expenses rather than sugar daddies. Once we increase wages that's an annual burden because we can't then decrease them, and until the new stadium arrives our income is limited. In order to comply with FFP there is only a certain amount therefore by which we can increase wages.
We may be in a position to spend fairly big in transfer fees as we haven't reeally spent much over the last couple of seasons but there is no way that we will be competing with Chel$ki and Citeh on wages

That is true, we can't compete with those two, but they already have loads of strikers, and in Citeh's case probably too many. They will be struggling on the FFP rules IMHO. There are still very good strikers around and, I suspect, the real problem could be the transfer fees rather than the wages. As we have spent much over the last couple of years a bit of extra cash for the fees could still leave us with the FFP limits - whatever they are. Ever the optimist!

I was wondering that myself. Do the FFP rules include income from TV? If so we may be getting a bit of a boost soon.

Why is rating something 'optimistic' just another way of dismissing it on here? Something might actually go our way, even just by law of averages! I'm optimistic this is gonna be a great summer leading to a great season.

And making a couple of big signings and getting a top manager doesn't necessarily mean spending like Citeh. Spending wisely works just as well.

The only manager that would genuinely excite me would be Pep Guardiola. He is he only name that would go along with the "Big Things" talk. All the other name AVB, Moyes, Blanc, Benitez, Deschamps, etc are all good managers and kind of biggish names but to be honest none of these allude to Big Things and if/when one of these get appointed I doubt you will see any Spurs fans jumping up and down with joy.

On to Pep, honestly why not? Presuming that he could be talked out of his year sabbatical. The Spurs job would be a great job for him. He talks perfect English, would no doubt absolutely love London. He is young enough to see Spurs firstly move into supposedly the greatest training facilities in Europe, then the new stadium. He could b our Wenger if you like.

The pressure would not be of that of Barcelona and Spurs would be a proper long term project which he would be at the head of.

With FFP, the new stadium and the best training facilities, A club with great traditions and a massive support. The club could challenge for the very top honours over the next 15 years.

Guardiola could be the man to oversee it.

Now that's what I call 'Big things'

I wondered where that post had gone.

It should of course be in 'Rate The Last Movie You Watched'.

Story just posted by daily telegraph
Includes the following para which is uncannily similar to jj's recent ITK

Levy will want to draw up what will be a “short short-list” although club sources insist that he will not rush to replace Redknapp, who was sacked last week after 3½ years in charge.

I know this is the ITK discussion thread, but I'm pretty sure it should be about the news rather than the ITK's themselves.

Pretty sure at least one doesn't like his name being discussed much either, keep it on the down low for fuck sake eh?

Real way for sources to dry up to be honest IMO.

Tomorrow a rumoured announcement? It had better be a fucking doozie tbh.

I'm assuming as one of the hottest managers in world football, he'd command wages of around £100,000+ a/w like Mourinho, Anchlotti, Capello.

As we've seen with players, we just can't pay out that sort of money until we get a new stadium.

Maybe when Jacob said that there are big things on the way he was talking about Txiki Begiristain coming in as the DoF. Oh well, who knows - time will tell.

Although ENIC have put a small amount of cash in to Spurs over the last three or four years, the majority of the cash spent on the new training ground and new stadiumm has come out of our football-generated cash flow. Now this spending doesn't count for FFP rules, so in effect we've been running a big FFP profit. That means that Mr Lewis could give us a fair wedge of cash without infringing the FFP rules. Wouldn't that be nice...

Yes we can.

There is no salary cap at Spurs - just sensible budgeting. You must have heard Levy on many occasions in the past, say that if the right player (Manager) comes along we will pay the appropriate package for him.
