What punishment would entail if they were found guilty? I still can't believe some of the quotes attributed to Zidane are legit; shocking if so - blatant isnt the word.

Although I doubt the governing body will want to upset big ole Real Madrid for little ole Tottenham. Pathetic.

I've just looked up some previous cases:
A mixture of fines, transfer bans and player suspensions.

But you're right that they'd probably do nothing. *sigh*

If FIFA and Uefa are serious then they should ban them from the transfer market.
Teams have had embargoes placed on them so it can be done.

I'd literally piss myself if that happens. What would they talk about?

Didn't we hear something similar with Real's behaviour with Modric?

I fear that as nothing came of that, we may have only encouraged this when early action could have stamped it out.

Zidane, Perez and ugly rat feature need to be sorted out big time. Sick and tired of Zidane coming out and saying that Bale should hand in a transfer request. Lost all respect for him.

Meh, I can't get annoyed at 'tapping up'. Every club does it, lets be honest, relevant to their position in the footballing food chain.

You do what it takes at the end of the day to get the player/coach that you want.

The flagrant disrespect of Madrid in their pursuit of Luka and Bale is utterly embarrassing. Certainly, no club is as one poster put it 'whiter than white' but the comments that have come out of the Spanish capital aimed at unsettling our prized players have been disgraceful; that the governing bodies just 'ostrich' - (bury their heads in the sand) is equally damning. Enough is enough! Have to say that Barca were equally culpable over the Fabregas transfer and behaved appallingly. Not sure what punishment can be meted out or the level of compensation, but I would like to see a transfer embargo placed on clubs that embark on a sustained campaign of tapping up. Of course it won't happen but probably the only viable deterrence.

Not suggesting Spurs behave perfectly but proud that our manager/chairman/players do not publicly discuss targets unless an official approach has been made and accepted by the other party.

Basically this.

We can't take the moral high ground considering some of our antics in the transfer market so whilst it is unsavoury what Perez, Zidane et al are doing, it's ingrained in modern football whether we like it or not.

The above is not common practice mate. What Zidane and co are doing is the worst case of public tapping up I have seen, matched only by Barcelona with Cesc.

Sorry I'd have to disagree. We've never been anywhere near close to doing this.

It's a shame because Zidane was someone I always respected due to his footballing gift, I still can't believe he's being this overt in the press.

There's of course 2 sides to this. If it can be proven that it is an orchestrated campaign then I would think Real would actually find themselves in a bit of trouble.

The problem is though is the press are all the time asking the question, of ratface, Zidane and all others they come into contact with. Like it or not Bale is big news and the press are expanding this. They are also asking heavily loaded questions. I hate it but to a certain extent it is inevitable. No press would equal no crap to write about.

It depends what was worked out between the clubs
The partnership came about and i guess it depends on what we are getting out of that depends if it was worth to set that up, or FIFA to do fuck all

We did the same type of thing with Chelsea when they wanted our Fun time Friday.
The FA were going to do nothing about it and Levy ended up getting a good deal out of it

As I said, it doesn't bother me. In fact I quite admire them. They have got to a position at the top of the food chain where they aren't scared of the consequences and can throw their muscle around and try and destabilise a club and a player in order to get him. If I was in that position I can honestly say I would do it in a heartbeat, if it was a rival club then even better, chucking out a few media statements and watching them go into meltdown would amuse me no end. If there was an opportunity for Spurs to do it then we should, and anyway we are hardly angels in this regard with some of our previous.

It's a cut throat world is football. You win some, and you lose some. In the case of Bale face it we will lose eventually within the next two years anyway. So its not something I can get annoyed about.

I'm surprised Real have yet to send the press a copy of Their written offer to Bale as well as publicly awarding his agent with a Veyron.

I think it's Spain, Portugal, Italy and Germany where it's allowed.

Re: Grey Fox's info in the RO about reporting the tapping up. Thank christ for that. Something has to be done.

That puts us (EPL) at amajor disadvantage to every other major league doesn't it.

Good to see Levy is looking to drum up more income for the THFC Trust. Raised some much needed funds for their work last time with Keano and Berba.

Shame any complaints have absolutely sod all other purpose or effect than that, though.

Definitely. I agree in principle that 3rd party ownership shouldn't be allowed, but, with us out of step with other major leagues, it just means that the EPL will miss out on young talent or have to pay over the odds to cover the 3rd party.
