Does our interest in Illarramendi mean we're less confident on Bender?

Both players would be an upgrade but I feel Bender is a better fit. He's worked in a pressing system and he's also more defensively minded.

NB - I wouldn't complain if either came in!

I think that maybe this is our new scouting system at work.
Bender, Kramer, Illarremendi all looked at as the type of player who will fit in. If one fails we move on to the next, hope we end up with someone experienced in the end though.

You need to forget the way he plays at Madrid, and look at how he played at Sociadad. He will have been asked to play a very different role at both clubs.

Think these cryptics, rumours just show how complicated transfer deals are. So many factors at play. We as a club are in no mans land. Almost there, but the prospect of a big four coming in makes agents/clubs/players wait and see if something comes up. There are massive pay days, and the lure of top tier football to be had. Frustrating. (Though i can't understand why at least Shaq in the striker role was not made to stay at the club till at least a striker comes in)

Illarramendi is the type of player we should be looking at. Good enough for madrid to buy him.

Exciting stuff. Hoping the goat is correct as that is a big step up in confidence about a couple of signings. If all things are currently pointing a Asier Illaramendi the end of the week must be our deadline with him before moving on.

probably means that as soon as we heard he could be available we prioritised him, but are still pursuing Bender unless of course we get him.

If the goat reckons two potentially coming in that presumably means Berahino and Illaramendi. Both still a bit of a way off I suspect but can't think of anyone else who would be close to coming in.

As for the two out, that presumably comes from Fazio, Carroll, Adebayor, Lennon and Townsend. My guess would be Fazio and Lennon.

They should both go. Feel for lennon, he did his best for us and arguably could get in our starting lineup still. But it's over.

Positive to see the ITK about Illaremendi, he fits the type of CM we should be looking at in my opinion. Strong positioning defensively, got a bit of bite in the tackle, but with real technique on the ball, much more than just a destroyer. Decent age, still best years ahead of him, but already plenty of experience. Real openly want rid, so a deal should be very doable. Fingers crossed.
Hopefully the Fazio to WBA rumour is greasing the wheels towards Berahino joining us.
If that's the two in, then I'm happy.
As for the two out, as suggested, could be any two from Fazio, Lennon, Ade and Carroll. ITK did suggest a decent bid would get us to part with Townsend, but I can't help feeling that's less likely than the other 4. At this point, my money would be on Fazio and either Carroll or Lennon, though no real strong club links unless I've missed something. I think Ade will be a last week/last day thing. Maybe if all 4 do go, there may be something in the Pato story, but I'm doubtful.
