i wouldnt care if we dont bring anyone in as long as we get rid of defoe and dawson... although it would be tricky with the latter as we'd need to bring someone else in to replace.

I don't get why people are so keen to get rid of Dawson. The guy is spurs through and through. Fans bitch and fucking whine about player loyalty and then show none to true servants of the club. Bring in another quicker cb? Yes please! Make getting rid of Dawson our main priority? Go fuck yourself

What do you expect?

I expect we will never hear a Hulk rumour again and I have a feeling Defoe to Canada might stall, apart from that I have no idea what will happen but I do think what does happen will be very telling.

If Daniel and Franco back Tim then it would suggest that they expect him to be here for 18 months or more, if they don't one could easily come to another conclusion.

7 players in during the last TW - and most still not integrated ointo the squad. We never knew who AVB's prferrred first team was - and Sherwood hasn't seen enough of the squad yeyt to know who his choices are (as he was banned by AVB from watching first team training), so the chances of many in or out are almost nil.

Lets look at the detail :

If Adebayor is back we do not need a striker - Defoe might go to North America as rumoured, with either someone coming in and/or Kane becoming no 3 striker.

BAE being banished to QPR seemed to be an AVB personal decision, so it may well be that he comes back from loan to re-inforce the left back position. Youngsters Adam Smith (RB/LB) and Ryan Fredericks (RB/RW) are available to re-inforce the first team squad - but I'm not sure if they stay or go on loan - and that may determine Naughton's future. Fryers also in the mix as LB/CB cover but only as a back up this season.

Kaboul's continued injury is a worry - but Sherwood will be advised if this is a real problem (which might suggest a new CB being required) or not. But it could be that Capoue is considered a 4th CB (which with Vertonghen no longer covering LB with BAE back is ok) with the 4th CM position being covered by either Carroll (a deep lying playmaker - so different to current CM's) or Bentaleb and maybe other youngsters covering that 4th CM position.

We have maybe one or two too many midfielders with Lamela, Townsend, Chadli, Sigurdssen, Lennon, Erikssen, Dembele, Paulhino, Capoue, Sandro and Holtby (11 in that list) without considering youngsters, but I sspect that a sort out will wait until Summer when it becomes more clear how they perform under new management.

Of course Freidal will probably move on in the summer (and Gomes too) so if we see a young good goalkeeper we might well buy - but its not an urgent priority., not a 'must do'.

So overall a couple of changes made in or out - but loans cancelled or new ones out may be as important as permanant transfers.

I really don't see any new signings happening in January.Tim has already said that more new signings is the last thing we need and something about playing 15 a side in training as it is.
Unless Baldini has his eye on a few young guys for the future don't really see anything happening.

Defoe out & one striker in (or maybe promote Kane?)

Recall Benoit

Maybe a CB seeing as Kaboul is perpetually injured & Dawson not having the greatest of seasons. Veljkovic from the U21s is highly rated, maybe he could step up?

And I think we are a little midfield heavy, so can envisage someone leaving.

Benny back.
Carroll back.
Defoe out.
Young striker in.

Maybe a loan in considering it's WC year if the right player presents himself (a Levy special)...Lavezzi for example.
Maybe a CB, depends on Kaboul.

It doesnt matter how nice a guy he is and how much he loves the club, that's not going to win you games. He just is not good enough for a team aiming for the CL. We lavish praise and love on the players we want to keep yet they still leave, we need to be just as ruthless to the players who aren't good enough for reaching our targets.

As a person he's an Dawesome guy and on the pitch I've no doubt he gives his all, I've said that numerous times. Got no personal vendetta against him, his all is just not enough and he proves to be a liability a lot of the time.

getting rid of him and defoe should be a priority even though i dont think tim sherwood agrees. oh yeah and if that expletive was aimed specifically at me, go fuck yourself too :)

I agree with all of this. BAE called back from loan, Defoe sold with Kane getting more games. Capoue can fill in as 4th CB until we know more about Kaboul's long term fitness. Mids is a difficult one, we have too many (especially if Carroll & Bentelab are to get any chance in the future). Sigg I think is the most likely to go as well as another central mid and a wide player (if Ade is going to play wide forward and Soldado up front).

How far do you think Milos is from making a few sub appearences? Do you think his future lies as a CB of a MC?

I've been working off the theory that 'absolute bobbins' is the alter ego of 'Bobbins' for a while now. I think they reply to each other so as not to arouse suspicion. ;)
ItsBoris, we've just given away our own secret; you, me and BorisTM being all the same person. What was I thinking?

A GK , who can deputize for Hugo here and there. I still think Hugo hasn't fully recovered from the Lukaku knock.

Sherwood took the job as head coach, so nothing to do with him.
No transfers.. although we need a dominat CB & Lb cover.. Martins Indi would b my choice
Expect a few sales & maybe 1or 2 our on loan

Not so much the post that I'm confused about, but I was convinced that you and "absolute bobbins" were the same person who, in an ego maniacal or just schizophrenic frenzy, created multiple accounts, with the "absolute bobbins" being the drunk Mr. Hyde character, while Bobbins was the presentable "everyman" with widespread appeal.

Weird to see you two replying to each other.

To be fair that could well be the case and I would have no idea...

Now we got Timmy sorted, a LB and CB is priority plus one more striker since Timmy likes 442.

I had hoped CB considering how many people are ahead of him at CM at the moment.
I wouldn't think so too similar to what we have already at cb, does thw simple things really well in middle of the park( always a good sign doesnt over complicate things & try to do to much, makes the right decisions when in possesion & doesn't give it away easily) can see Ball & stewart competing for cb slot in squad

Stobart just mentioned that the coaching staff does not rate Defoe. If that's the case and we do have a solid offer on the table from Toronto, he could realistically be gone. Problem is do you risk bringing on a new striker now? Highly unlikely we add a PL-proven striker in January. Some might mention Berbs (Don't think Benteke is likely at all) but I really don't think I want him back here at this point.
But also made an odd reference to Holtby.....seems to say some at the club don't rate his passing......hope that the new coaching team don't give up on Lewis. Works hard, good shot, some wonderful passes and still young......and the German u-21 captain for goodness sake.......more than good enough to play for a top team in the prem league.

It may well have been a friendly discussion but it was in the wrong place. This thread is for discussing ITK not, among other things, the merits of substitutions in the previous match.

I have this thread on 'watch' because I am interested in ITK. When I receive an alert and see several pages of off-topic discussion - particularly about subjects for which other threads exist - then it wastes my time and pisses me off. I'm sure I'm not alone. So instead of selfishly saying saying 'feel free to move on' to those who complain, please have some consideration for others when you feel tempted to spam the thread with irrelevant chat.

Yes, maybe it was the wrong place for it, however given that (1) the mods let the discussion go on, (2) it was a no ITK news day until Tim got offered the contract late in the day, and (3) this happens all the time when there's no ITK, then someone having a bitch and a moan, and saying they will pack it in and spamming everyone's posts will solicit a response like that. I'm not a malicious person, but people need to stop acting like they haven't been here before, and that these discussions don't take place more often than not.

Now, with that said, I'm not going to post on this topic any more so that you can unwind your panties and stop being pissed off. I highly recommend that you learn how to chill out a bit.

Why did capoue and holtby play for the reserves?

to get 45 minutes of match fitness, ie keeping them fresh for the run in over xmas.

if they didnt get a game today then they would have gone a week without playing come Thursday.

This is typical for many players who dont play on the weekends, they do extra fitness in training to keep up with the rest of the squad.
