Corinthians haven't leaked anything...their top boy was QUOTED...that is not leaking info.

As for the criticism of Baldini ... what utter nonsense, clearly agenda ridden.

And Eales is not a CEO...he replaced Paul Barber, who was much admired, especially by Spurs fans who contacted him regarding ticketing issues and the like.

Whether Corinthians are setting up a bidding war by openly giving the press info, that's credible, and whether Baldini will cut it as our DoF, well that is as worrying as any appointment we make.

ok to sum it up for the slower ones ;)
billy white on coys:
We are very much so behind on a new shirt sponsorship deal. DL had been trying to acquire a combined shirt sponsor and naming rights (new stadium) sponsor for the next three years for a long time, but has had no luck in doing so. We are now scrambling to try and get ahold of something this week.

Bang on the money Billy.

We may well have a decent looking shirt then (if no sponsor is found). A decent looking shirt means more shirt sales which means no loss of revenue which means everybody's a winner!! - Or not.

Can everyone go on easy on JJ. Let's not forget he is only passing on what his sources have told him. They probably all have their own agendas, so as infamous saying goes - DON'T SHOOT THE MESSENGER

Any ideas why it seems so crucial we tie a big deal like this down this week?

Surely more than just wanting to deliver us a big bundle of good news all at once, with Baldini announcement, Bale and AVB signing deals, Paulinho coming and then this? I'd want them spaced out if anything. Plenty of crap news between now and September, I'm sure.

I imagine DL is having trouble because he is still asking for CL coverage type sponsorship even though we failed to qualify.

I assume the design of the new shirt has to 'gel' with the sponsors name, and the shirts have to be made, so they are ready to be picked up in 'Hong Kong', ;)

Did'nt the club sack someone less than a year ago for failing to bring in big money sponsors, If so then the new person isn't exactly doing a great job either

Levy is good but somehow I can't see him persuading a sponsor to pay for naming rights for the next 3 years when their is no new stadium in the next 3 years

That does seem to be a slight glitch in the plan certainly.

Not good for our finances either way though. Our shirt sponsor deals have been very lucrative recently so presumably a rushed deal will mean less money on that front.

They're putting it on the back then?

Anyway, no Asian Airlines and red logos etc? Thought the whole logos from that lot looked shite and amateurish anyway. Lucky red my arse* - how about getting a decent design in the first place.

*I don't think I've got a red arse, but can't be sure.

Edit - I just remembered I was told a figure by a brand sponsorship company that I really didn't take a lot of notice of that Spurs were looking for - £5m a season (?), but this did not include stadium naming as far as i can recall. It was 4 x the amount WHU were wanting at least.

Either that or Levy has set his expectations too high.

I always struggled to understand how we could afford to build a new stadium, particularly without the cost impacting on costs of player wages and recruitment.

It must be two or three years since we first announced the new stadium. I said at the time that I'll believe it when I see the first brick being laid down. Still waiting.

Wow! Spurs in "Levy scrambles around for last minute deal" shocker! There's a surprise, eh?!

When did Darren Eales become our Chief Exec? ... as far as I know we don't have one. Wouldn't JJ know this ?

He's nothing more than a glorified secretary (Director of football administration = his official title). He's not even any good at that (fucked up our NextGen tournament last season  ).. He's no more 'chief executive' that you or me!!

Ok current stadium brings in £40m.
new stadium expected between £90 and £100m. If we pay off £30m a season we're still £20-30m better off.

Well if DL really struggles to find a decent sponsor maybe we can persuade him to print Spurs Community on the shirts. :)

I go out of the office for a few hours and this thread goes into meltdown!

Its clear that alot of JJ's messages are opinion but its opinion gleaned from people close to the club. Of course, unless he has been bugging Levy's office Mossad style then he is just passing on what he hears from his sources, some of which will have a slant and some will be off the mark. Also the amount of info and number of sources may change over time, so pinch of salt and all that.

We can't just dismiss it though as the thoughts of a drunk/bitter employee/village idiot just because its not what we want to hear. Nothing would surprise me about Spurs as some of our dealings in the past have been a complete shambles. All i know is that he knows more than 99% of the poeple of this forum what is going on.

Anyway, the thought of Pleat sending Levy a list of players who happen to be the same player pronounced differently is amusing me :)

Still the small problem of actually finding the cash to build the thing though.

Even Arsenal struggled and they have far greater resources and profile than us.
