Clubs can't force players to go anywhere. If he is not keen yet still moves it's because he is being compensated to a level that makes him happy to move.

I think the big time player has to be someone who plays a similar role to Barkley. Can't see us going for two players in attacking positions and Herc said previously that we had a new target who played similar position to Barkley. It's also the only position i can think of needing strengthening. Very interesting update.

I didn't mean literally forced, all I meant was that he's clearly had a lot of deliberating over it and has required a lot of persuasion (probably from Utd and Arsenal) especially of the financial kind.

Don’t you people get it? Fulham do not need to sell! They will not be forced to sell! Summer we see. If they are promoted, you know the score. He is very keen on us if they don’t get promoted. Price will be high. We have never stopped talking.
Cannot be more clearer than that. Again, I repeat; We could do no more than we did in summer to get him. He signed a contract, under the advice of people he trusts.

How would the payments work with a deal that was going through in the summer? Would we start paying them now, or when the player actually joined? If we start paying them now I guess they can strengthen their squad now and also keep playing Malcolm.... although a serious injury would invalidate the deal so that wouldn't make much sense. I guess it just comes down to whether they want to keep their best player for the rest of the season, or lose him now but possibly strengthen a couple of other positions with players bought with the money that we'll give them.
