I heard we pay a chunk of Van Der Vaarts wages (probably about 40k) and we got Real madrid to pay the rest of his wages when he signed

I think this is correct. VdV would have agreed a severance package with Madrid which would be a proportion of the remaining value of his contract.

I think this is pretty much standard for all contracts which I think is one of the reasons players are loathe to put in transfer requests as it means they will lose out on a large chunk of dosh by initiating the breaking of the contract.

Kind of agree with you here. For the non-ITK addicts finding out that we're about to sign Diarra & Adebayor will probably feel like an early Christmas. For those of us on here that having been expecting this for a while it will just be 'Meh, wheres Yellow?".

so i clearly jumped the gun on adebayor, as did others. teaches me to put a date on an announcement. not sure what the hold up is and im not going to pretend i know why, but ive just been told its 'nowhere near as close as people are saying.' sounds like typical spurs to me, but this goes against what my tried and trusted source told me on wednesday so im still believing its on and its being announced imminently. same for diarra!
