This could be down to the reported buy out clause in Toby's contract; apparently it will cost A.Madrid about £1.5m to activate a minimum buy out fee of around £9m - £10m. So instead of getting bids of around £6m they pay £1.5m and and then get £9m, profit of £1.5m.

This is all conjecture based on reports from a month or two ago so not sure if this is the main issue, perhaps this is why Levy has reportedly flown to Spain in order to work something out.

As it's all based tabloid "research" there's just as much chance of Chewbacca signing for us (not to be confused with Carlos Bacca)

If he wanted to, he could have done that ages ago. Maybe he has. If his mind is inclined towards playing the ITKs, he would use them for other purposes than some simple exposing.

Just out of interest, why is this post attracting so many neg-reps? It's hardly outside of the possible, and relevant to today's ITK as posted here..

Vertonghen was reluctant to sign a new contract last season to my knowledge, and Alderweireld has specifically stated that he would be attracted to Spurs because of his friendship with Verts, so what's the issue?

JJ's also said Vertonghen isn't leaving, and Vertonghem himself has said that he's staying. That's why.

But that wasn't mentioned in the ITK, so retrospectively I don't see the issue. As I pointed out, it's hardly implausible that he could leave, and we've had no news of either Kaboul or Chiriches leaving at all.

It's no wonder we can't keep ITK on topic - whenever you try to discuss it, plenty seem to climb aboard their high horses and neg-rep you for considering an alternative take on why we might possibly have hit snags with the TA signing.

The more they say, the more its scrutinised and compared alongside previous utterings, then people baffle themselves and then more different interpretations are spun on it. Its part of the reason we don't allow them here on SC.

The day Twitter disappears up its and its user arseholes will be a glorious day. Sadly I can't see that being anytime soon, we're stuck with it for longer than we're gonna be stuck with chrome dome.

I understand all that - there was no context to who the other two were in the ITK thread, so I thought I'd ask the question.

I've deleted the post now, as it's not worth getting sneered at for simply suggesting a plausible reason at why we're getting mixed reports on the TA transfer.

I don't use twitter for the same disdain for it as you, but it seems that makes me an idiot....

Right on, that is why all ITK should be posted through as cryptic to eliminate the different interpretations and people from being baffled.

I think cryptics baffle people more and get people more baffled

There's nothing wrong with clear ITK, I think it's a case of perhaps some people taking ITK too literally - it puts pressure on the ITKs and leads to them getting abuse if anything is ever "wrong". There's only certain types of ITK that can be certain, which is why it's "In the Know" rather than "This will happen".

Even the manager can't be sure if a player is staying or not, as you never know until an offer arrives (or if you're kept in the loop!). Poch himself could be ITK on here and would still get abuse for not predicting everything correctly!


As for most recent ITK, the McCarthy link is interesting - could perhaps be linked further down the line to a player + cash deal, although I think I'd be a bit gutted if we paid "far more" than £13m (which is what Everton paid Wigan for him) when we could have got a Plan A player for that amount.
