Pretty risky strategy though considering our poor start. (Not gonna happen) but imagine getting into issues in the league with this young a squad. Think it'll be mix and match again, which will this time likely lead to nothing in either.
We've already dropped nine points in first 4. Games. Never thought I'd say this in Septemberbut I think a trophy is our only shot this season

I do not believe we will be anywhere near the top half of the table. The manager has not been provided with the tools for the job ie CF and DM. Going by the football we have played so far under Poch I don't think he would know what to do with them even if they where bought by that miserly wee bald wanker of a chairman. I wonder what shit the clubs spin doctors are going to put on this window. I wonder how well the balance sheet will look for the bald wee wanker when not many turn up at his shiny new stadium when are scrambling round in mid table or fighting relegation and the football is the same dross we have been watching for the last 14 months or so. Because we want a manager to stay a lot longer than others have does not make him the right man for the job.

However it all happened it'll be interesting to see how things pan out now between Berahino and West Brom. Will we go back in January? If we do I wonder if Levy will do it properly this time or wait until 10pm January 31st to fire a lowball bid in………

The games between the clubs are going to be tasty affairs as well.

No chance we go back in for him in January imo.

THST statement, which is spot on IMO- looking forward to the next meeting:

Totally agree with the THST here. Ticket prices really get my goat (pun intended) relative to how competitive we're prepared to be in terms of playing staff costs (wages and transfer fees). We pay Dom Perignon ticket prices for Jacob's Creek footballing ambitions. I would mind less if I thought that ticket prices would be cheaper in the new stadium to allow fans some of the benefit of an increase in ground capacity, but football (and THFC) being what it is then I'd bet dollars to donuts that they won't be.

Actually I think most people just wanted a bit of balance to a squad left lacking in key areas. Y'know, like the doolally notion of actually having more than one recognised striker in the entire squad.

You can see it that way of course I would have liked a striker as back up to Kane but we have strengthened in other areas, the most important aspect for me is pace up front. Both Son and N'Jie can play up front. Footballs strange we had 3 recognised strikers last season 2 of which were shit. Who knows what will happen this season, but this place is like Groundhog Day at the end of each transfer window.

I've kind of come to terms with it now.
I still think it's an absolute sign of negligence to finish the window so poorly, having done so much good work trimming the squad.
Have to say, our much vaunted scouting is quite disappointing if all they can come up with for CM and CF are already well known players either out of our reach financially or in terms of prestige, or just plain not for sale. I was under the impression this new all encompassing, statistics based scouting would find us the right players at the right price. Unearth some lesser known gems.

Anyhow, it is what it is, so no point getting upset now. Time to get on. We have added some quality, and managed to retain our key performers from last year, so arguably we are stronger than we were. I know it'll be unpopular, but I hope Levy, Pochettino etc can be big enough to offer Adebayor an olive branch. He may be a money obsessed individual, he may be borderline toxic and absolutely crackers, but he is ours, we pay him a lot of money, and historically he tends to turn it on when playing for a contract. Obviously this is definitely his last year with us, so he needs a season of delivering consistently, in order to maximise interest in him next summer and earn that next big contract elsewhere. I've had a quick tot up of the numbers, and we currently have 24 senior players (2 of whom don't need to be listed as they are under 21), so there is space within the 25 man PL squad to list him. Give him a lowly squad number like 47 (do not give him a prestige number like 9 or 18), then chuck him in the squad, send him to every EL game. If he is kept at arms length, he may just deliver, with minimum chance of disruption. For his future plans I t's in his best interests to be playing often, playing well and hopefully scoring, and we know his own interests always come first with him. I never personally wanted him back, I wanted him gone, but since he's still here and nobody else came in, let's just use him for our benefit.

It's that or go for Berbatov in my opinion.

I wonder how much we saved on the wage bill this summer, not having a dig either way, just genuinely interested. And before anyone says. No I can't be arsed working it out for myself.

Wow, just wow.

I'll give the benefit of the doubt on the midfielder as at the very least Dier is showing promise and Veljkovic deserves a chance. We might be able to ride that one out...

As for striker, I'm sorry but that's something I just can't accept. Fair enough we might not have had the pool of quality we had hoped for in our price range but what a burden to dump on a still young and developing striker. Kane deserves better, much better.

Having said that we now have gaps for blooding players. NJie and Son will get opportunities. Veljkovic should get some minutes, Alli should see more minutes. We've pruned what needed pruning (Ade the barnacle was always going to stay) and strengthened the defense. It's not all doom and gloom but it its not all roses either. I will be crossing fingers for Kane all season though.

That first team selection after the break will be interesting...

Directors of other clubs are normally given seats in the West Stand directors box when coming to the Lane, what's the betting on DL sticking Peace in one of those 'restricted view' seats in the East Lower behind one of those giant poles? :)

In the interests of being fair to the milignant dwarf…..

BBC's David Ornstein

"Some at West Brom encouraged chairman Jeremy Peace to find an agreement with Spurs counterpart Daniel Levy, even within the final hour of the window, but Peace refused.

"It is also understood that at no point in this saga did Peace give Tottenham a price that might secure the player, hence the prolonged chase and multiple bids.

"There is serious concern at West Brom about the effect this will have dressing room morale, with Berahino not in a state of mind to play and not one of the more popular figures among team-mates."

Radio 5 men made the very good point that now the TV money sits in the pockets of teams like WBA it makes them want to hold out for more cash - they've no need to sell, whereas in previous seasons the prospect of £20m might have seemed lovely.

Low balling West Brom was not a great effort - because it didn't work. DL should not necessarily know better at this stage in how to deal with other chairman in the changing financial climate, but he should have had a back-up plan.

And, really, there's no FUCKING reason that we couldn't have set a deadline of the night before and for once have it all done before faxmachine midnight or whatever.

BIG DL respect in my head, we're a different beast in so many ways - but losing best players and Harry being a fluke and the best boss we had since the man took over is a bit bloody upsetting. Not backing any manager when push came to shove compounds the feeling that despite the positive steps there could be a better man in charge.

I finally saw the light at the start of the summer: We no spend. The Son signing is like a bonus and should be seen as such. We've had a bloody fab window, but not because of the club - cos the best players we had are still with us.

Lloris could have gone. F*cks sakes, Kane could have been taken by united if they weren't so slap dash in the transfer market and had been serious about him.

Jan, the little guy who tore it up for half of last season and Chadli; who could be the worlds best player if he had a bit more nous. We've got a cracking squad, which is light in areas but we weren't going to win anything this year anyhow.

More than a striker, more than the new stadium and five year season tickets, what THFC needs is for DL to back the manager for a 5 year stretch. We need Poch to get another season before he implements the plan.

Even with Berahino we'd no chance anyway.
I want a cup run or two, another final would be amazing, even a EL semi final would be cause for excitement. Otherwise don't think I'm going to take much from this season. I'm not the biggest Poch fan yet but he's basically got a free pass this season, utterly pointless blaming him for anything.

I see the cycle has started with the waves of positive posts, the masses clinging to other posters words... Desperate to buy into their reasoning as to why we'll be alright in the end.

Disregarding all of that though, we are one clumsy challenge away from having to play N'jie, Chadli or Son up front for a sizeable period in the premier league.

Certainly will be interesting! Do you think we will go back? or maybe move on from this transfer. I understand Berahino's frustration at not getting the move he wanted, his tweet was not the most professional thing though and doesn't paint him in a great light. January is a long time, maybe other opportunities present themselves.

I don't think people should be too hard on Levy, I wanted to see a new striker and I am sure most did, but the stadium is looming and that is one of the biggest things to ever happen to our club, bigger than any transfer. Players will come and go, but that stadium will be forever and I want us to have the finances to do it and not stretch and put us in any financial danger. I think sometimes the media and press focus on the big 4, and forget just how well supported Spurs are. We are a huge club with a large following and the new stadium is going to be for generations of fans to come.
