We have got rid of a lot of hangers on and a lot of dead wood and trimmed the wage bill so that is one positive to come out of this almighty clusterfuck, we have also bought some pretty useful players and made the defence a lot more solid, but leaving gaping holes in DM and CF are unacceptable

It is a bit like building a nice pretty house with swimming pool and the builder not fitting a roof and that he cant fit it for another 4 months so you have to hope it does not rain, we can't take that chance

Not all 20 need a striker and some are aiming higher profile, for us he would have been a solid back up given the threadbare striking options. 18 prem goals last season mate is pretty good in a relegated side.

This is nothing like the Berbatov summer though, where we left ourself without a single viable option. Pav had played a years continuous football and needed to adjust to a new league etc, Bent wasn't right for us at all, and then there was Campbell.

We've got decent options that can stand in for Kane as and when, who have played as forwards, we already have players who score goals at a similar rate to Berahino does.

And the worst case scenario is we only have to last until January until we can pursue another solution.

I think there were better options that we could have pursued but I really don't think our situation is drastic and I don't think Berahino was a medium/long term solution that 25m should be.

The more I've taken time to reflect, I actually agree. Berahino would likely start occasionally up top to give Kane a break, yet mostly he will start LWF. Also, I don't like the idea of easing N'Jie and Son in, AVB did it with Lamela and it didn't really pay off. They need a run of games and then hopefully come November they can be well established starters, Southampton didn't ease Mane in and he is quite similar to N'Jie.

I'm not sure we have anyone who can play the central striker role personally. Maybe Poch can work his magic on Chadli or Son but I don't see the point in paying 22m for somebody then playing him out of position. N'jie I don't know enough about to be honest. Risky in my opinion
