Lots of people on here have spelt out the reasons that he is a better option for us to keep. Neither are good enough to be regular starters but Pav is more likley to score coming off the bench (I'm pretty sure the stats back that up in a big way) and he's a lot less likely to bitch about being on the bench.
Exactly.
If we are upgrading our strike force, but keeping one of the current lot, the one kept will have one primary role - to sit on the bench, be a Super-Sub, if you will.
I asked a while back if anyone had the stats for who had the best strike rate specifically coming off the bench Pav or Defoe. Like Pablo, I am sur ethe stats will show it is Pav - does anyone have them?
Bit apprehensive about baseing our entire formation and transfer strategy on one man. We need a plan B for the games where he wont play as he doesn't have a natural replacement in the squad.
The idea is that if we get Vucinic, Adebayor and retain one of our current lot we won't be. Vucinic and Adebayor could both play with VDV, meaning we could cope with one fo them being injured. But, going by the way Vucinic has complimented Rossi at Roma, I suspect he could play in a more direct 4-4-2, with either Adebayor or the striker we kept on; ditto Adebayor.
Pavs bitched about being on the bench loads
Quite a while back. He spent almost the whole of last season on the bench without biatching, and is seemingly prepared to sign a new contract after that experience, suggesting he has understood that his role may be somewhat more reduced than it was.
I think a lot of people are over-embellishing Man City's position. Yes, they have lots of money but they are still reliant on not making such a loss so as to prevent them from entering European competition due to the Financial Fair Play Regulations.
If they have too many players that are not included in their 25 squad, they will effectively be paying millions a week for no reason at all. By the end of the season it all adds up. At the moment I think they have in the region of 32-to 34 first team players (Not including signings), most of whom are on excessively high wages such as Santa Cruz, Adebayor, Bellamy and Bridge.
My guess is that a fair few of them will end up going out on loan in order to retain a reasonable transfer value and to limit the damage done to the accounts.
To those that say they may loan to us as a sign that they dont see us as a threat...does that really matter? If Man Utd loaned us Rooney because they don't see us as a threat would you refuse?
No, Loco...I think you've got it Arse-about, on this one...I think the feeling is that Citeh are over-embellishing their position viz-a-viz ourselves.
