A serious question - one rationale for us spending this window is that levy realises it’s too expensive to miss out on CL. Is there any chance he looks at the state or the presumed top 4 and thinks it’s unlikely we make it anyway and so defers some of the big spending and has a quiet building window instead? I know there are other explanations for the dampening of links like Martinez and Vlautovic but could there be truth in the above?
Being that this is the Itk discussion ... Itk (Val Yid) positioned it that Levy finds it too expensive in lost opportunity to be out of the champs league so is investing to get there.

It's not been the worst window we seem to have signed some good prospects but always disappointing when the messages coming out the back door of the club through ITK are saying completely different to what you end up seeing.

I'm willing to reserve judgement for a while. The inherent pessimism is trying to overwhelm me, but I'm holding onto the thought that ITK's are only presenting the information that they get and that's only ever a snapshot in time. Things change, so their info could be out of date very quickly, especially in current circumstances.

So, I'm hoping that there will be a lot of clubs like Barca, Real Madrid, Juve, Inter, etc that will have a fire sale in the next week. And there'll be opportunities that will present themselves that we just don't yet know about.

Or we know about and are patiently waiting?

Fuck it. Gonna try and remain delusionally optimistic until the end of the window, even if i have been left disappointed before, on numerous occasions!!

Reckon if Kane stays we will go for Edouarde at Celtic.
It's midfield and RB that worries me.
Peh, Skipp and Ali are the only mids we can rely on, the rest are either not good enough, too injury prone or not interested. It would be negligible to go into the season in this state, so I expect/hope for at least 1 in, hopefully 2.
Tomayasau would solve the RB and CH issue, seams a no brainer.
Traore would be a luxury purchase, not a big fan, but can see his strengths , bigger priorities in my opinion

In fairness to Tanganga, there's not a RB in the league that could put Traore in his pocket. People saying that JT doesn't have the goods because Traore could get by him a few times are like those that say a midfielder is lousy because they can't take the ball off Moussa Dembele.

Well, considering Tanganga has totally pocketed Sterling each time he's played against him, whilst Traore ran him & pretty much the rest of our team ragged, I'm perfectly happy for us to shop in Aldi.

Serious upgrade on what we have, offers something different and scares the bejesus outta me when we play Wolves. Should defo take a punt on this lad, he's a beast.

Not a good update the more I think of it.

I'm a Traore fan but we need a proper backup striker/competition for kane.

If the budget is tight then spending 40 million on a winger is madness.

Plus the midfield is desperately light in presence as we saw on Thursday.
Just thought if rumours are true about rodon would you offer him and cash for bissouma?

So basically, we can’t buy anymore defenders or midfielders until we sell first, so surprise surprise we are screwed, looking like a normal transfer window to me, just waiting till September 1st for the normal excuses come out..
European clubs are strapped for cash so the middle market is not there for us to sell players too. Stop being dramatic.

Traore. LOL. That’s the best we can come up with. Nuno masterclass continues. I think that’d be me pretty much done for this season. Transfer windows never cease to amaze. Just when you think they’ve given you the most comprehensive beating possible, from belief to hope to despair to recognition, a jab comes in and discovers a completely new organ to batter.

Sorry for the edit but just to delineate the spectacular stupidity: Damsgaard is available. His is unbelievable as a lwf. For less than Traore. Among god knows how many others. But no no. Nuno knows best. Sign the guy whose face you remember from the before job. Brilliant transfer policy.
Yeah, I’m slightly pissed off hence the tone, which I’ve generally been pretty good at avoiding here lol. It’s last week of teh window though and after today’s performance cut me some slack with venting. I’m watching the team I’ve supported for forty years, post mourinho, with Doherty Davies Dier dele winks Sissoko Etc in the squad. I’ve got ptsd from watching them play hunt the circle. And today i got flashbacks of us when I was 14, dean austin nethercott et al, or so and we ended up near the relegation spots, in terms of quality, players, and tactics/organisation. Discounting new signings, I realised there’s genuinely only 4 players in our squad I like and rate as footballers.

im Not going to comment on Nuno, I’ve been cautiously positive about him due to my memories of how good wolves were against us, even while others were going nuts at his appointment. But today was beyond woeful, and very occasional bitching is my fee for the 40 years. So I bit a little.

I guess Traore hit a sore spot. And that is 100% down to nuno. No chance we go for him otherwise IMO - and I don’t think we’ll find ourselves with much competition. There’s an entire planet full of players out there so I think what‘s got me is more how depressingly limited in vision it is when your club are thinking of chucking what would be a very large amount of limited funds on a guy who has run into dead ends for his entire career, just because there’s a previosu club connection. I don’t believe anyone one in their right mind would feel happy at getting Traore at teh expense of a Damsgaard for example. And as fans we have our faces lifted skywards to look at what’s possible, then dragged back down to the rocky earth of that kind of small town thinking.

I’m obviously not done with the team really, I’ll never be done with this bloody team. I will be taking a break if we add to the monumental pile of deadwood we have already with guys like Traore though. And that break will be 6 days. Sigh.

Fucking hell. Are you Joan Collins?
