So my post was unpopular. We are competing against five teams who are already strong and/or strengthening. However optimistic we want to be or confident in the talents of Mauricio or negotiating talents of Daniel Levy etc, we aren't competing for the most in demand talent or doing much at all in comparison with those clubs. Are they waiting to get rid of deadwood before buying? No.

Dislike away all you wishful thinkers.

You really think we are doing nothing nothing? Come on you really don't believe we are sat around doing nothing until we sell a player?

Poch: Any luck with any signings, Daniel?

DL: I haven't even looked at your list of players yet as we haven't sold anyone this week.

Just because we don't know what is happening doesn't mean nothing is.

Just because we don't know what is happening doesn't mean it is either!

As it stands right now, we've only strengthened one position (centre half) in the first 11. The attacking part of the squad needs a dramatic revamp because there's currently only one player who is a consistent threat (HK) and that's nowhere near enough. Major work is still required, not just to compete for the top 4 but also to make the team more exciting. Unless Kane was single-handedly dismantling teams last year the football served up was, by and large, mediocre at best, and very often dreadful. This can be forgotten in the fresh hope of pre-season but if the top 4 is the acid test, then we remain way short.

Bitter experience of transfer window marlarkey would suggest otherwise.

So you think we aren't even looking at players or getting things in place? Seriously?

Deals may take longer for us to complete but to say we are doing nothing at the moment is ridiculous.

Some people fail to realise that it's about squad size as much as "zero net spend". Without losing some non home grown players we can't bring any non home grown players.

And for those that say we can just not include some of the deadwood in the squad, I suggest you go and look at the FIFA rules that apply in the event that a player is excluded
from the playing squad in such a way

Have you never experienced a Tottenham transfer window before then? Bless.

No need to be a patronising bellend.

What you are suggesting goes against what every ITK is saying. We might not have signed someone this week, but we have signed three players already this transfer window and despite what you may think we will have signings lined up.

It is absurd to think we won't even start looking at the possibility of signing a player until we have sold one .

We may however have to wait until we have sold one before we can buy one, but that is not what you are suggesting.

Touché, but again no one can really believe that behind the scenes nothing is happening can they?
It depends on how the word "nothing" is interpreted. If it's interpreted in the literal sense then no I don't believe "nothing" is going on, but if it's interpreted in the sense that "nothing" worth doing is going on then it could well result in a different answer.

Ask us all the same question again on 1 September at 5pm. ;)

I think it's possible you haven't? January windows are generally quiet, Summer windows we always do plenty of business. You can debate the quality but not the quantity.

I agree entirely. Its absolutely ridiculous how this rigid zero net spend policy is allowed to stultify our transfers. Its a massive handicap that NO OTHER prem club has to cope with.

***Cough*** biggest privately funded construction project in Europe ***cough***

That's why we can't buy until we get money and wages in from Ade/Stambo/Fredericks this week

Spurs fans just have ridiculous expectations of transfer windows, and never learn their lessons.

We've already seen quite a lot of change. Paulinho, Capoue, Holtby, Kaboul definitely gone. Stambouli and Adebayor looking very likely, and potentially a handful more. We've then added Wimmer, Trippier, Alderweireld, Alli and Pritchard to the squad. That's significant change already!

In hindsight everybody looked back at the signing of the 7 with the Bale money as attempting too much change and yet people are just desperate for more.

It would appear pretty likely with the outgoings talked of, and the ITK that we'll be adding at least two more, which is 7 new faces to the squad, matched by potentially 8+ leaving. That's a pretty big change, and doesn't even consider the addition of youth prospects to the squad on a regular basis.

Some people seem to just want signings for singings sake. They also tend to be the people that then bemoan the need to sell so many players each year.

I think the reverse is true. These days a large percentage of Spurs fans don't really expect anything other than to lose our best players.

I don't understand why we haven't brought any Argentinian gems, Argentina is a hive of potential quality but our coach hasn't seemed to have tapped into any insight.

I find this disappointing to say the least.
