Said it before and i'll say it again. Two centre backs needed if Vlad goes. Leaving ourselves with a lot of work to do...
Bloody hell, I know we had problems with our defence but it doesn't mean we need to sign 3 CBs in one transfer window.

No. Levy is a business man, first and foremost, and an investor in the team second. His primary motivation is the long-term viability of the team, not focused on short-term ups and downs. He also is conservative, by nature, meaning he will accept some risk, but not a lot.

He also has a responsibility to look at the next two years, and realize that revenues will be down when we play outside of WHL. That has to factor into his decisions today, and part of the reasons why he cannot overspend at this particular moment. I think that also plays a part in why we sign guys like Davies, Yedlin, Dier, and even Vorm - those are 4 players who will undoubtedly play a role in the club over the next few seasons - reducing the need to fill those holes (with money we won't have).
@Cheltenham Spur what do you dislike mate? I think thats a fair description of how Levy runs the club - responsibly, even if as fans we always want more/better players. You won't find anyone on this board who wants us to find a way to bring in Schneiderlin, Musacchio, and even a LW/striker more than I do - but when I sit back and look at this from a business perspective, and think about what motivates Levy, its hard to argue with the decisions he makes - by taking a fans emotion out of the equation.

A few more "footballing" decisions made in conjunction with business decisions, rather than purely "business" ones may well have made this club a lot more valuable than it is now. It's all very well maintaining the status quo but unless you're prepared to take an educated risk and improve prospects, what's the point in buying a football club in the first place.

Gaz, just as a matter of interest please mate - how long have you been watching MS?
I really want to know what he possess than our current players and other players do not.
I accept that MoPo rates him and has worked with him and we should get players our manager wants but as for us fans, i really want to know how long we have been watching him and help other ignorant fans like me see his specialty please.

I have seen him play in the flesh twice last season, and play in full recorded games five other times. It's not really about how many times that i have seen him play but the assumption that he should be forgotten about having played a single game, away at Liverpool for a team that (according to ITK) had him training alone. Go figure why he possibly had an average game, or even a poor one. I'd like to think that MS would be rather like Ade was last season when he was reintroduced to the team by Sherwood if he were to be brought in by the Club.

We have no other player with the vision, pace and is box to box like him, and if Poch see's him as the driving force behind the Saints success last season and an invaluable player that could add strength to our team and his system then i for one am all over it.

Hold on, weren't you ITK as well, or some time ago?

Is De Maria, or Khedera out of the question for us? (probably)
Bearing in mind we are supposed to have some sort of relationship with RM...

(sorry, not the thread, will take it to player threads)

He posted ITK...

"Redknapp will be leaving at end of season for England, FA not overly fussed by the EURO's so will wait/dont mind arry not having much time in charge before EURO's. Instead they are targetting qualification for and the WORLD CUP. Bond only one who will be going with. Jordan and Allen don't fancy it.
Arry is looking for younger ex-player coaches to join him, i know he wants Shearer and James for sure.
Levy knows who he wants to replace him, but my source would not tell me who, only a massive name and gonna go all out to get him. I do know tho that arry has strongly recommended Hodgson to Daniel.

Take as you wish

Because simply we can't rely on Dawson and Kaboul anymore.

The former it's been talked about to death and the latter has been far from convincing since his injury return, and no guarantees he's going to continue to be injury free.

Those two need to be replaced with a quality centre back, so if Vlad is going then he needs to be replaced as well.

It's like saying 'we need to upgrade on Lennon' and we buy a decent winger only to sell Eriksen and not Lennon to pay for it.

I think both players are essential signings. Moutinho (sorry, I meant to say Schneiderlin) because Poch has said, via the best source of info you can get (JJ) that Poch considers him the key to his system. Regardless of whether we think one of our existing players can fulfil the role, I really wouldn't want to see another AVB/Moutinho scenario.

Moussachio is essential because he's a very decent CB that actually wants to come to us. A decent CB is utterly essential, but I can see it being this year's unfulfilled position in the same way that LB has been over the last few windows. It's not altogether clear why the Moussachio deal is floundering but at least part of that reason is likely to have something to do with our offer being not quite "there".

Sorry, but it really does seem to be same old shit, different window.

The position he plays is key to his system, not that MS is the key. I agree that having him would be great, but his system won't collapse without him, and we have decent analogues already at the club.

Not at you particularly, but there's an awful lot of emotional transference which goes on on this board at this time of year, where players whom the coach would clearly like to have, become absolutely essential in our minds, which then becomes absolutely essential to the coach, which then becomes a disaster when we don't pull it off.

The timing of this Fazio leak can mean one of three things:

1. We've leaked fake interest in a player just to twist Musacchio's agent's arm (to drop his take on the fee) before Villarreal kick off their EL game
2. We set a deadline of before Villarreal's EL game agree Musacchio fee and have now moved on to Fazio
3. Fazio is just a rumour.

Yes yes yes we all know what it CAN mean. The point of the ITK is to figure out which of the alternatives are more likely the case. :smug:

Looks as though Vlad is off for sure according to my media friends.

This is a shame.

I think he showed some real promise last season and hopefully would have kicked on. With Daws being so pigheaded I guess we didn't have a choice, as we have to get rid of someone with others coming in.
