Big day for the MM transfer saga. If he plays/starts for Villareal, it wont happen. I dont think Poch wants to bring in a player already cup tied, especially when he is prioritizing the Europa because of CL qualification.

Don't worry, same thought goes through my head every time a new ITK thread gets posted before I go to bed!

Think he tries for MM regardless of Cup ties. Big picture (can't think about just this year).

Pretty sure if we don't get Schneiderlin this window, another club will be getting him next time around. It's likely more teams around our level or higher will have needs.

Not bothered to be honest. Based on what I saw on Sunday, he does not appear to be better than what we already have IMO. MM is the one I want to happen as a solid defence should be the priority. Again my opinion

Surely the time for Schneiderlin to accept he's staying is 1st Sept? Find it hard to believe he has accepted it when there's 2 weeks left of the window and THAT tweet is still there...

Sad news indeed. He would really have made our starting eleven tick. Long shot by the sound of it but i really hope that Levy can pull this deal off still.

The last time we had a "normal" summer window, 2012, we brought one player in before August 21st (Siggy RIP) and four players on or after (Ade, Dembele, Dempsey, Lloris). The fact that we haven't brought in MS, MM, MD, etc. at this point does in no way mean we won't get one or some of them.

Yes. Without you trying to be clever its the only time I have had to observe since I have known of our interest. He may yet turn out to Pele and Maradona rolled into one but not based on Sundays performance. Added to the fact that he has thrown in the towel two weeks before the window closes speak volumes, so I am not bothered

Shame if he doesn't come, but what does as things stand mean? We are prob miles off their asking price. I watched him closely, for the first time, last weekend and thought he was very good, off the back of a short pre season. Mind you wanyama was just as good IMO. Schn did put in a Pauline o type tackle on Henderson which led to sterlings goal though. Did I not like that.

Mm is the one I really want, however, and I would be royally pissed off with his levyship if we don't add an excellent cb this window, in addition to my new hero Eric...

I really want to know what he possess than our current players and other players do not.
I accept that MoPo rates him and has worked with him and we should get players our manager wants but as for us fans, i really want to know how long we have been watching him and help other ignorant fans like me see his specialty please.

We aren't signing anyone else and will be unlikely to do anything more than ship out a couple of loan players before the window closes.

I said this in the MM thread on Tuesday, and the more info we get the more this view is confirmed.

We just don't close these types of complicated deals. The deals we close are where the selling club wants to sell, the player wants to move, there are no third party complications and things align so we can pay what we think is the right price in the market.

Last year was an exception with a few deals (Lamela, Soldado, Paulinho) but we were spending a gigantic windfall that every selling club knew we had.

First and foremost he is much much better on the ball than any of our deep lying midfielders. Probably a better passer than any of our existing CMs I'd say. We miss that ability to retain and recycle possession.

I think a lot of it is Poch having his own man at the club amongst the players, its 1 of those quirky unwritten rules of good managers past.

He's a good player who knows what Poch wants, however its not the end of the world and I'm sure he can get what he wants from the midfielders we already have.

If we don't get him this window I hope we fuck Soton off and don't bother going back for him.

It's either nobody's fault, or somebody's. Surely the latter, given the Itk on cb being the area poch wants to address e most urgently. Who does the buck stop with in your opinion?

This is for the transfer aspect of the whole thing, any individual players skills, ability, suitability etc etc are what the players threads are for.

Slow balling for the cheapest deal. You want a player, you place a bid, and you work on it. With us it's place a small bid, annoy the selling club, and hold out. While the player wants to go.
Also for once if MS and MM are the players Pochettino wants then sign them. Don't be looking for alternatives.
I meant that it's about time Levy woke up and got his hands dirty. If they isn't any movement on either deal by Tuesday of next week, I cant honestly see neither deal happening.
