Could Gards ITK that the final signing may come at a loss be a financial loss & not a player loss. Could it be finally a POSITIVE net spend?

Haha! That would be a happy solution for us fans.

To be honest the deals we are potentially doing look to give us a pretty sizeable net spend anyway - Barkley, Sessegnon, Aurier, Foyth and Gazzaniga would be around £90m by my calculations, let alone whatever Sancho and a pacey attacker would cost, and what we've already paid for Sanchez.

Martial would be an immense signing, but at the expense of Rose?

Had we not sold Walker, maybe. But losing the best two full backs in the league after finishing 2nd just doesn't sit or feel right at all.

And another relevant factor worth considering, is that we coped well without Rose but Walker was in the side. Would we have finished 2nd without both in that period, I'm not sure.
There's no coming back for Rose with Poch now though, Pinx. You don't cross him like that and get away with it. He's toast one way or another - now, jan, next summer. Certain to be one of them.

Some positive itk thank you

With possibilities of rose leaving do you think he would fetch a bigger fee than Walker?

What would a martial price tag look like too?

Requesting some opinions here

(If this is the wrong thread for it let me know)

Maybe it's Dier & not Rose who might be involved in a Martial swap .......... Just a thought?

With Davinson signed and ITK pointing to another CB soon, I'd much prefer to lose Dier than Rose (moaning and grumbling, negative impact? aside) but as Utd have sign Matic I wonder if they'd still want Dier. I guess he could drop in at CB for them though.
Yesterday clearly showed how important our attacking full backs are in the current system against top 6 teams, so a season without Rose and Walker could be long. Would love Martial but maybe not for Rose

Unless the dummy spitting interview saying we needed players to compete was what opened the floodgates the ITK is alluding to... I can see Poch being OK with that!

Can't see Rose going in this window, unless a ridiculous offer comes in for him. It would have to well exceed KW. So cannot see it. Next season a different story.

Been thinking about the Rose <-> Martial swap and potential RS incoming ITK. If, with the signing of Sanchez, we are going to be playing with 3 at the back more often than not, then RS could well be deployed in our system as a wing back, after being eased in of course. Still leaves the problem if Davies gets injured, there is no real cover.

EDIT - the above post by Herc fits in with this. Keep Rose for a year, buy and sparingly use RS in a wingback or higher-up-thew-pitch role, then sell Rose next summer. All too perfect to be Spurs, though...

Hopefully Sessegnon is settled and starting to rip it up at LWB by then. I'm confident in Poch with full backs, just needs the raw material as an alternative to Davies and Tripps (athleticism and pace).

Unless we're gonna buy a pacey first choice LB who is ready to start now (not Sessegnon) losing Rose would be unacceptable to me. We'd also be strengthening the possible favourites to win the league at the same time. I really rate Martial but not to the extent of losing both the best RB and LB in the league in one window and ending up with Davies as first choice LB.

Perspective needed. We have a player, who could be in odds with the manager & club. So, if it would mean we get Martial, I am more than happy to let Rose go. Yes, it strengthens a rival, but so will they - strengthen us by giving Martial in return. Atleast Martial doesnt have known fitness issues - Rose consistently misses 25% of every league season.

All said, still don't think Martial - Rose swap deal would happen. But fingers crossed.

As for as LB - we have Poch, he is the full back whisperer, improved every single full back played for him.

Not itk bashing here but 7 signings in less than 2 weeks (Barkley, foyth, aurier, Sancho, sess, gazza, martial) is surely a tough ask

Props to Danny boy if he gets it done

We've obviously been working on a number of deals for many weeks so the actual completion of said deals can probably be wrapped up pretty quickly. If that many deals do get completed it will be a culmination of many weeks(months?) of negotiations.

It's obvious. We buy Bale back, but at more than we sold him for, hence the loss. :woot::ninja::rolleyes:

In all seriousness, if Rose isn't going and if it's as difficult to do big swap deals as Trix says (which is what Martial for Rose or Dier would be)...I really have no idea what that last sentence is about.

It could be that we would need to sell an important player in order to raise the funds needed to bring in whoever this unlikely player is, just not in a swap deal.
