This is just one of those posts that people put out just for the sake of it, you know to get people agreeing with you etc...

Do you honestly believe that the info was leaked just to get fans to buy season tickets??

Season tickets for the first season in our brand new stadium ? If fans were basing buying a season ticket in our brand new stadium on info released about potential signings then we don’t deserve fans like that in my opinion
I know people that have been offered their first season ticket this year or last year and have had to really think it through based on the cost. One of the factors of any major purchasing decision is cost-benefit so expectation comes into it. There are lots of different types of fans so just because someone isn’t like you doesn’t make them any less of a fan.

I also think that all football clubs/ all businesses use social media to try to maximise revenue and they would be stupid if the didn’t. That would cover a lot of information including rumours.

I'm not too worried tbh. We have one of the top three squads in the league as demonstrated by our performance over the last three years. The idea that because United, Liverpool and City are spending and we're not we're 'going backwards' doesn't make sense. The players who have delivered for us year in year out have been the likes of Kane, Dele, Eriksen, Vertonghen - none of them big money signings.

The players we did pay a lot for - Sissoko, Soldado, Paulinho, Aurier are a lot more hit and miss. Too early to say with Lucas and only Son and Sanchez have been clear successes. I don't think Levy will have missed this and I think he's right to be skeptical at throwing money around especially on players who aren't even out first choices (we can't get Martial so let's spend £70m on someone else just to get someone in the door).

The same players havent won us anything...so while that is all great, some of us are worried about not adding to the squad etc. Danny Rose's interview shows that players also take note of this and will leave if we dont show ambition.

Exactly. It was noted at the end of the season that we were missing something and some players were running on empty, it would be nice to be able to rotate at times without expecting a drop off in quality.

Let's just hope these 3 signings are genuine first teasers and not players who are going to need time and may still not make it. It would be much smarter to just give the likes of Onomah the squad place instead if so.

You can appreciate all the great things Levy has done as a business man whilst also being infuriated by his dealings in the market. People aren't all good or all shit. People saying any club in our position would need to remove the deadwood need to look at how we amassed so many crap players in the first place. As an example we had the ITK that Batshauyi was basically as good as got but we didn't want to trump up the extra cash for him. Instead we got Janssen in and Sissoko for a silly amount. Those 2 combined whilst cheaper at the time have now cost us more in the long run, Even the head of scouting at the time fucked off because of it. We're allowed to be critical of this aspect of Levy.

and Batshauyi was a real successful signing, due to lack of play time did very little and would of seen less mins at Spurs, because he definitely isn't good enough to replace Kane.

every club makes bad signings and every club will have trouble getting rid of them this season at the top price they hope due to the window closing difference.

really hope DL pulls something out the bag, but still doubt it will please everyone

We haven't signed anyone.....our dealings aren't getting done....can't shift players....targets getting swallowed up....window closing rapidly approaching....supporters becoming agitated....Levy messing about over money....

NOW it feels like summer!

That's not missing the point. There are multiple reasons why we can't sell after we buy, and it'd be the case for any club.

Apologies, but I can't help but think you're still not understanding the concern some people have.

One of the explanations for lack of incoming transfers is because we need to move players out before we can add.

Can you really not see why that might be a bit problematic for us in terms of recruiting new players?

Appreciate the sentiment and info, Herc. Please allow me to take this one step further. I am not ITK "bashing" what Hertyid and Ali Z have said elsewhere, but for me, the "we need to shift players first excuse" completely and utterly fails:

1. Simple maths. Let's assume that the six players we are trying to shift have an average salary of 70,000 per week, which I think is a little high even though Sissoko is on purportedly ridiculous wages. 70,000 x 25 weeks (assuming an absolute worst case scenario that we have to shoulder six unwanted players until January, which seems highly unlikely) x 6 players is approximately 10,000,000. That is less than the transfer fee for LLORENTE ALONE.

2. Squad registration. The players who do not feature as part of Pochettino's plans will not be registered until January, if we need them at that point. N'Koudou and Janssen can feature for the U23s, like Lallana, Shaw, etc, if they cannot find a loan before the deadline. It is up to these players' agents to find them opportunities to go out on loan and prove themselves. We ate Adebayor's salary for half a year and we ended up being OK.No one was mortally wounded in anything but Levy's pride.

3. Loans vs. Transfers. We aren't getting big dollars for N'Koudou, Janssen or Llorente. Probably not Sissoko either. No one wants them. Because they are out of form and have not yet shown much for their wages with the opportunities they have been given. We were lucky to flog Paulinho off to China in 2015, but that's not an option here. The idea that we need to "settle" our accounts by getting these players transferred instead of loaned out is preposterous for a club with 300 million + in revenue that has supposedy backed its manager.

So, I'm not buying it.

Regarding the closing of the transfer window, I understand that Fifa or UEFA set up a task force last year into the transfer window with a view to improving it. Richard Scudamore was on it and a couple of the things discussed, amongst other things, was limiting agents fees to a set % of the transfer fee, with the player paying the rest and also the closing of the window so players aren't unsettled.

I believe that from next year the transfer window across the whole of Europe will close in the first week of August. Obviously the EPL voted this year to close it early (don't know if Scudamore suggested), so they are prepared for the changes next year and so their players don't get unsettled. Rather stupidly, they didn't think the impact it would have this year with sales to Europe. Also, clubs like Barca, Real etc can still unsettle players after 9th August.

I think Levy was one of the chairman who voted in favour of closing early, so he's played a part in shooting himself/the club/Poch/the fans in the foot.

If tantrums like this are based on what Hercules has said today, why are people also ignoring the part where Hercules writes "I am told that regardless, we will complete 3 signings in the key areas earmarked from the onset.". That sounds to me like incomings are still that, incoming. It's one thing to believe one ITK whilst applying salt to another but it's stretching it to cherry pick one part of an info dump whilst ignoring the rest.
How was I having a tantrum? I believe I posted after Herc expressed his concern & before he said he still expected the 3 signings...I can voice my unhappiness or discontent with news I hear without throwing my toys out of the pram.

We will bring players in before we sell players if we have to and if, as the itk says, the problem is clogging up the wages then we will get rid of those players because the fee won't be the deciding factor, we may not get as much as we want for them but we will save on their wages.

It was clearly a dumb idea to close the window early unilaterally while for the rest of Europe it remains open. Especially in a world cup year when there is less time for transfers to occur. Wtf were they thinking?

It was (wrongly) anticipated that the rest of the European leagues would follow suit.

I thought it was a good idea when they announced it but obviously was not thinking it all the way through!
