Well put...
Levy IS making a mess of it, in my humble opinion, of course. Here''s what should have happened
But Levy first waits three weeks (what for?), then boots out his manager in the middle of Euro 2012 while one of the targets is actively involved in that tournament and then starts interviewing candidates left, right and centre. There is no decision on the return to a DoF type model - or not, and the names being bandied around, like Moyes, AVB, Martinez and Blanc, all represent wildly differing footballing styles and philosophies. Does Levy actually know where he wants to go from here?
- I happen to think that if you run a multi million poud business, replacing your manager is not a spur of the moment decision, but something that builds up over months or even years. So Levy has to have known he was replacing Redknapp for some time.
- If that is so, you immediately start to think about potential replacements and subsequently sounding out their agents. Tapping-up, surely, but everyone does it and this decision is too important to leave to chance
- If you get a yes from your man, you boot out HR, get the new man to sign and have the photosession, and at such a stage that the new guy has plenty of time to make the necessary changes to the squad
Given DL's highly suspect track record in managerial appointments, I greatly fear he does not. If he's waiting for Blanc, then why get rid of Redknapp now? If AVB is the man, his contract details and compensation could and should have been sorted out long ago. No need for further delays.
And while all this drags on, there is no activity on the transfer front, while our squad needs major investment. So to wrap it up; I say that Levy is botching this whole procedure....
As opposed to what? Holding on to Harry for another 3 weeks while players, Fans and media speculte if Harry is staying or going, while Harry shoots his mouth off to the Media and live on BBC whiel covering Euro 2012? Sit for 3 weeks portraying that we have absolutely no idea what position we will be in for the start of the season? Jesus.
Levy is not a stupid man. He will have considered multiple candidates. Based on the fact that AVB has been spoken to, is interested and is not tied up in any sort of contract which involves negotiations and compensation, I would imagine that he not our number 1 target.
Blanc seems to be number 1. We may have spoken to him 2 months ago for all we know. He did make noises after all in March/April time about possibly signing for a new club before or even during the Euros. He is involved with France. We cant publicly say we have spoken to/ want to speak to/ or have agreed terms with him. This can only happen once France are eliminated.
Every day that passes make it less likely a currently available manager will get the job - at least until the currently employed Manager that we want has been spoken to and says no.
To get back to your point, we are in a much better position now while we continue our Manager haunt, than we would be siitting with Harry keeping the seat warm for another 3 weeks to then be sacked.
