Well we know King won't play many games, but we look so much better with him there. Gotta say I'm not greatly happy that we keep buying squad players only for the CB position. I always think we look so much more like one of the big boys, I mean amongst Chelsea and United in terms of team solidity when we have King playing as well.

Maybe we do need a replacement for Bassong but I'd be happier if we looked to practically replace King.

Who do you see as a viable replacement for Ledders? He's a one off.

The thing is though Arsenal need Samba a lot more than us, and he would walk straight into their side.

If he has a choice between the two of us he really should be picking them.

Samba and Vermaelen certainly looks a lot more of a physical proposition than Koscielny and Djourou.

Sorry!

Though my other posts are bang on topic, it's just you that bears the brunt of my cheek :shake:

I've noticed

Mine are usually on topic as well but then sometimes they stray...not that often though

Nothing personal, mind. Well, maybe a little...

Straying is not a wise move. So, fancy (a) Samba then?

Anyone seeing Samba as a replacement for Ledley is living in dreamland. He's not even fit to lace his boots. I see Kaboul as a better bet long term

I'll take that as a compliment :)

We had been linked with Cahill this week and I kinda like him, so sounds like it could be either Cahill or Samba for our new defender.

Please do, it was meant as one.

Cahill rather than Samba for you then?

That's the point. We can't "replace" Ledley, we just get another CB. As long as he is a decent one, he'll have to do.

no wonder there are advertisements for online dating on this site, there's clearly a market for it

I honestly don't have a clue to be honest, but the thing is I'm not even sure if we are looking for a replacement which I personally think is a shame if not.

Hi DP.

That's my point. How do you replace the irreplaceable? Do you even bother to try?

Yes. You bother your ass off to replace the irreplaceable. While we may never see anybody quite like Ledley again, the search for someone who is close or comparable is the lifeblood of any team that wants a legacy. Otherwise, you're Hull City.

So no we can't replace him, but fuck yes we try.
